Re: 148 Losee Road, Wappin~ers Falls
Dear Mrs. Smith:
As per our conversation this mornin~, I would like to state
my conversation with Graham Foster of your Hi~hway Department.
When my wall was first hit by the plow in the Winter )f
1992-93, I called the Town (Hi~hway Department) to let them know.
I was told it was not possible that the plow had hit the wall.
Now, durin~ the winter of 1995-96, the plow has cau~ht the wall
a~ain and it has been shiftin~ toward the road, with .30me lar~er
rocks layin~ on the road. Mr. Foster told me today (.~pril 30th)
that there was really nothin~ he could do about the willI (and
that it was not possible for the plow to have hit it .-- and t.hat.
with the ice and snow meltin.s:! in the walls, that was why t.hey
were shiftin~), but by the time t.he town finished picJ,in~ up the
~arba~e, it would be well into the fall months by the t.ime t.hey
were able to ~et to the roads to fix the winter dama~es done.
He also t.old me that with the town tryin~ to keep the t.axes
down. most of the town's t.ax money i s ~o in.~ t.o the schoo 1 sand
that it. would take more than 100 hours of manpower at $15 per
hour. He also stated that there wasn't really anythiJl~ t.he town
would do and reiterated a~ain that he would be busy p:.ckin~ up
~arba~e throu~h the fall.
We are very concerned with this problem. Our home is 160
years old and we have redone t.he ent.ire home from top to bottom.
We hope that you are able to help us with this problem. I can
understand that it may take some time to ~et. to, but tlave trouble
underst.andin~ Mr. Foster statin~ that there was reall)" nothin~
the town could do.
We look forward to hearin~ from you.
Sincerely, ,
