1989-05-15 SPM/moi A Special Meeting of the Town Board of the Town of Wappinger was held on May 15, 1989, at the Town Hall, 20 Middlebush Road, Town of Wappinger, Dutchess County, New York. Supervisor Paino opened the meeting at 7:05 P.M. Present: Irene Paino, Supervisor Davis Reis, Councilman Constance Smith, Councilwoman: Robert Valdati, Councilman Elaine H. Snowden, Town Clerk Absent: Vincent Farina, Councilman (Away on Business) This meeting was called by Supervisor Paino on May 12, 1989 and notices were sent to the Town Board on that date calling said meeting for May 15, 1989 at 7:00 P.M. for the purpose of considering awarding bids for Highway Surplus Equipment, Benefits for Cheryl Hait, Assistant Court Clerk and considering a request from the Town Historian to purchase material to have Town. Flags made. The media were also notified of this meeting on May 12, 1989. On May 15, 1989, a revised Agenda included two additional items --- authorizing the Comptroller to prepare specs for going to bid on the Town Cleanup and consideration of a transfer from Contingency to the Historian's line item to purchase the material for the Town Flags. Notices were sent to the Media on these additions and the Supervisor's Secretary called the three newspapers and the three radio stations to notify them on May 15, 1989. Bids were opened on May 10th, 1989 on Surplus Equipment belonging to the Highway Department. (Bids attached hereto) MRS. SMITH moved to award the bids for the equipment advertised as recommended by the Highway Superintendent. Seconded by Mrs. Paino Motion Unanimously Carried At the previous work shop, the Board discussed plans for a Town pickup and it was agreed that they go to bid on this service. MR. REIS moved to authorize the Comptroller to go to bid for the Town Pickup. Seconded by Mr. Valdati Motion Unanimously Carried In the notice that was prepared for publishing it stated that Bids should include both the weekly/hourly rates and week-end/hourly rates for: Labor & Equipment Disposal & Hauling Compactor Trucks & Drivers Roll -off Trucks and Drivers Yard Labor/Separators Additional Laborers Dumpsters (Specify Size) Miscellaneous Charges Specify Cost/Ton of Compacted Rubbish Cost/Yard for Loose Trash Round Trip Cost to Landfill Clean -Up Costs The second item was to consider Benefits for Cheryl Hait, Deputy Court Clerk. When Mrs. Hait was appointed in May of 1988, she waived her Benefits with the understanding that she could come before the Board at a future date: and request that these Benefits be provided to her. She has made this request and it has been placed before the Board. Mrs. Paino suggested that this matter be taken up for discussion during the budget preparation. MRS. SMITH moved to discuss the matter of Mrs. Hait's Benefits during the budget work shop meetings. Seconded by Mrs. Paino Motion Unanimously Carried A request was received from the Town Historian to purchase material to have Town Flags made at an approximate cost of $1,600.00 MRS. SMITH moved to authorize the Comptroller to transfer a sum not to exceed $1,620.00 from 1990.40, Contingency to 7510.40, Town Historian to purchase material for Town Flags.
