VALDATI October 29, 2003 Counci Iman Vi ncent Betti na Town of Wappinger RE: Wildwood Subdivision Wappingers Falls, New York 12590 Dear Councilman Bettina: I have investigated the matter of your concern that a lot in the area of Wildwood, bordering New Hackensack Road, has been granted a Building Permit in spite of the supposed condition that said area was to be kept "forever wild". As you are aware this office has spend many months archiving old planning and zoning records previously held in various locations. I was thus able to utilize our designed database to search for any Wildwood documentation. I enclose a printout itemizing the records which we have for said subdivision. I have personally inspected the four noted maps and have found that three deal with the southerly portions of Wildwood. Two of the maps deal with the area south of Widmer Road. Only one, for a 2-lot subdivision filed in 1999, depicted an area near New Hackensack Road but that map made no mention of a "forever wild" area. In my August 13, 2003, memo I had apprised the Town Board that there were gaps in the records. Please note that the earlier Wildwood maps are the only items we have from that time frame....there are no corresponding files. Only the 1999 map has a file. I have also reviewed the Planning Board's minutes from 1961 through 1967 to see if any mention had been made regarding the "forever wild" aspect. Although there are several instances of much summarized notes regarding Wildwood projects, I have not been able to find any specific notes or conditions that would support such a restriction. If you know a person who has specific knowledge of what transpired during that subdivision process I would be exceedingly interested in discussing the issue with him and viewing any maps or files he might have. If you have any questions I will be more than happy to answer them or to address any other concern.
