Dear Mr. Supervisor;
I am presenting this grievance for the Gray and Railing Partnership for the above
referenced parcel. I apologize for the fact that this application is late. I called the
Town prior to the September 1st deadline (which I did not know about) and no one
was able to inform me of the requirements or a submittal date. When I called back
on the 4th of September, I was surprised to learn of the submittal date. The nice
folks in the assessors office suggested, per a conversation that they had with you,
that I submit it with an explanation. Had I know, I would have met the deadline.
I am requesting relief from the Benefit Assessments on two counts. Currently we are
assessed 80 units under 999W3 and 300 Units under 999W4.
My personal belief is that this is an over assessment for the permitted uses in the
zone. As a Highway office zone we are limited in our usage. Our building is only 6400
square feet and at full occupancy should generate less than 1000 gallons per day of
usage. Even if we had 50 employees in the building (which we haven't had since the
construction of the building) we would only generate 20 Gallons per day per person
or a total of 1000 gallons per day. This would be the equivalent of about 3 houses
worth of use.
Our total tax last year was $4510.84 much more than the assessment of any 3
houses. We believe the assessment is double the reality of usage.
In addition, the sewer system is not available to, or adjacent to our property and
should be brought to our property line. The nearest Manhole is on an adjacent
property and therefore not accessible.
We would like a 40% reduction until the Town brings a sewer line to our property
line. We will be approaching the Town Board in the near future in regard to bringing
an accessible sewer line to our property.
We appreciate your consideration of these requests and request a hearing.
