I am pleased to notify you the Town of Wappinger has been awarded funding from the
2010 Selective Traffic Enforcement Program (STEP).
The Dutchess County Traffic Safety Board has provided funding to fifteen law
enforcement agencies throughout Dutchess County to target unsafe driving behaviors
including speeding, aggressive driving and other moving violations during peak driving
time periods. Enforcement activities may be conducted through August 2010.
The Town of Wappinger has been awarded $4,000 from the STEP grant for dedicated
police patrols.

roadways.

Dear Sheriff Anderson:
On behalf of the Dutchess County Traffic Safety Board (DCTSB) this letter confirms your
departnient's funding for the 2010 Selective Traffic Enforcement Program (STEP).
The DCTSB will provide funding allocations to fourteen' (15) law enforcement agencies
throughout Dutchess County through a "block" grant from the NYS Governor's Traffic
Safety Committee. Enforcement activities may be conducted through August 2010.
Y our department's funding for the project is as follows:

Village of Tivoli 5 3,390
~ Dedicated enforcement patrols must be conducted between 12 noon and 8:00pm, the
period of time when there is the highest incidence of fatal & personal injury crashes in
Dutchess County.
.:. 43% of all Fatal & Personal Injury Crashes occur between 1 :00 and 7:00pm.
.:. 23% occur in the peak commuting time between 4:00 and 7:00pm).
~ Funding can be utilized for dedicated patrols targeting School Bus violations for
"Operation Safe Stop -Enforcement day" Thursday, April 15th 2010.
~ Patrols must target unsafe driving behaviors including speeding, aggressive driving,
distracted driving (including cell phone), motorcycle safety, and other moving violations
(see attached grant narrative).
