TO THE TOWN BOARD OF THE TOWN OF WAPPINGERS, DUTCHESS
COUNTY, NEW YORK:
WE, the undersigned, bei~g resident taxpayers
owning taxable real property aggregating at least one-half
of the assessed valuation of all the taxable real property
situate in the proposed fire district as hereinafter des-
cribed, owned by resident taxpayers, as such valuations
appear upon the latest completed assessment roll of the said
Town of WappingerS, do hereby petition your Honorable Board
as follows:
1. Your petitioners propose and petition that your
Honorable Board, pursuant to Article Eleven of the Town LaW
of the state of New York, establish a fire district in said
Town of WappingerS, to embrace that portion of the Town of
wappingerS which is contained within the following boundar-
ies, to wit:
BEGINNING at the Northwest corner of the
district sought to be created, being the inter-
section of wappingerS Creek by the Northerly
line of the Town of Wappinger; running thence
Easterly along said Town line to Sprout Creek
(being also the Easterly line of said Town of
Wappinger); running thence in a general South-
erly direction in and along the line of sprout
Creek (being the Easterly line of said Town of
Wappinger) to the SoutherlY line of said Town
of Wappinger; running thence Westerly along
the southerlY line of the Town of Wappinger
and across the highway known as U. S. Route
No.9, to the southwesterly corner of lands of
Frank Long; running thence NortherlY and
approximatelY parallel to said Route 9, along
the Westerly boundary of said lands of Frank
Long, until said Westerly boundary line joins
the lands of Emile Ruof; running thence East-
erly along the Northerly line of said lands of
Frank Long to said Route 9; then continuing
Easterly in a straight line to the southwester-
ly corner of lands of Gasser; running thence'
Northerly along the Westerly line of said
lands of Gasser and the Westerly line of the
original Ardmore Farms to the Hughsonville-
White's Corners Road; running thence Northerly
along the Easterly line of lands of Dr. Bauer,
Fred Keeler, otto Froelich, Weigand, the former
William Losee lands, and Harold Miller to Myers
Corners Road; running thence Easterly along the
Northerly side of said Myers Corners Road to
and including the barn on the former P. P.
Montfort Farm; running thence Northerly to the
~
Northerly boundary of said P. P. Montfort
Farm; running thence Westerly along the
NortherlY line of said P. P. Montfort Farm
and along the Northerly line of lands of
Dr. Olson and Mrs. Ray Coles until the said
line of said lands of Coles is intersected
by the ~llage line of the Village of Wap-
pingerS Falls; running thence Northerly
along said Village line to Wappingers Lake;
running thence NortheasterlY along said
Wappingers Lake and WappingerS Creek to the
point or place of beginning.
2. No part of the territory aforesaid is situate
within an incorporated village or city.
3. It is proper and necessary that the territory
embraced within the proposed fire district be brought into
a fire district, for the following reasons: The territory
in question is without fire protection. The said territory
is chiefly a residential section and many fine homes and
other buildings are situate within the territory worth
thousands of dollars. An adequate supply of water is avail-
able near most of the homes and buildings so that if ade-
quate equipment were also available, fires could be readily
brought into check. Petitioners are informed and verily
believe that if the said territory is brought within a fire
district, and equipment made available for use therein,
there will be a considerable reduction in fire insurance
premium rates. A majority of the residents of the territor
desire an opportunity to secure fire protection and under
all the circumstances your petitioners verily believe that
it is proper and advisable that such territory be formed
into a fire district.
4. The assessed valuation of all the taxable real
property of the proposed district owned by resident tax-
payers as such valuation appears upon the latest completed
assessment roll of the Town of wappingers is the sum of
Seven Hundred Seventy-one Thousand One Hundred and Fifty
[$771,150.00J DollarS. Your petitioners are all residents
within such district and own real property therein, which
property according to such assessment roll was of the assess-
ed valuations respectivelY set after the names of these
petitioners.
WHEREFORE, your petitioners pray that the Town Board
of Wappingers, establish a fire district to embrace the
territory aforesaid to the end that such territory may
furnish itself with
