1983-09-26 SPMA Special Meeting aas held by the Town Board of the Town of
Wappinger on September 26th, 1983, at the Town Hall, Mill Street,
Village of Wappingers Falls, Dutchess County, New York.
Supervisor Diehl opened the meeting at 8:15 P.M.
Present:
Louis Diehl, Supervisor
Nicholas Johnson, Councilman
Gerard McCluskey, Councilman
Bernice Mills, Councilman
Frank Versace, Councilman
Elaine H. Snowden, Town Clerk
Notice of the meeting was sent to all Board Members on September
23rd, 1983, calling said meeting for September 26th, 1983 at
7:05 P.M. Notice was also sent to the three newspapers and the
three radio stations and posted on the Town Clerk's Bulletin
Board.
The purpose of the meeting was to consider the appointment of
a full time employee for the Assessor's Office due to the fact
that the present Clerk to the Assessor would be retiring in the
near future. Mr. Logan recommended the name of Diane Every at
an annual salary of $12,000.
Mr. Johnson moved that Diane Every be appointed to the full time
position of Clerk to the Assessor of the Town of Wappinger at an
annual salary of $12,000 and the motion was seconded by Mr.
McCluskey.
The motion brought forth a negative reaction from two Board
Members. Mr. Versace had no quarrel with the appointment of
Mrs. Every, however, he did object to the fact that the salary
requested was higher than some of the present employees are
receiving. Mrs. Mills commented that the salary figure should
be addressed during wokk shop sessions on the budget and it
should be based on the qualifications of the person rather than
compare it to the amounts other employees are presently receiving.
She did not object to the salary requested but felt that the present
hourly rate should remain until the 1st of the year.
After considerable discussion on the appropriate salary to be
set for this position, Mr. Johnson rescinded his motion and Mr.
McCluskey rescinded his second to that motion.
MR. JOHNSON moved that Diane Every be appointed to the full
time position of Clerk to the Assessor for the Town of Wappinger
at a temporary annual salary of $11,000.
Seconded by Mr. McCluskey
