I concur with his recommendation. Please advise as soon as possible. G?~. ~. RJ.H. Mbr Attached - Letter Resume TOWN OF WAPPINGER RECREA nON COMMITTEE PO BOX 324 20 MIDDLEBUSH ROAD WAPPINGERS FALLS, N Y 12590-0324 CONSTANCE O. SMITH SUPERVISOR To: Ralph Holt - Chairman Recreation Commission From: Gerry di Piemo Director of Recreation Subject: Candidate for Director of Summer Camps Date: April 3, 1997 Please be advised that on this date I interviewed one Maureen Ervin for the position of Director of Summer Camp for the 1997 season. Ms Ervin is without a doubt superbly qualified for this position. For once I had the pleasure of speaking to someone who not only comes with an abundance of credentials but also the experience to lend credibility to them. In addition to the qualifications on her resume, (which I have attached for your review rather than re-state them here), she informed me that she has also been a co-ordinator and region~ director for the Catholic Archdiocese of New York CYO programs. In keeping with the Town's long standing policy of securing the best possible help, I am urging you to support her salary requirements, We find ourselves in a competitive environment for her services, She informed me that she also interviewed at Casper Creek (the former IBM Country Club), and their salary offer was $4,000 for the summer. However she also was quick to point out that she was not impressed with their program. I bluntly informed her what my budget allocation was ($2,500). She informed me at that point that if we could get her salary to $3,000 she would prefer to work for the Town. It is in light of this discussion that I am requesting that we transfer funds to accommodate her. The authorization to do so, I realize, must come from the Town Board, but where the money comes from is ultimately yours and the commission's. I know you recognize the importance of this position. The responsibility that the Town assumes for the welfare of its children is self-evident and it is in the interest of the Town to secure the services of the best possible person and I believe that Ms. Ervin is that person not only for this year bur for ensuing years, 80 Director of Recreation Maureen D.
