This letter will confirm that we will include the following in one code amendment:
1. Interim plot plan (per your memo of November 19, 1997);
2. Temporary signs and uses, including election posters;
3. Storage of vehicles in residential districts, both indoor and outdoor; we must be
careful how we permit the storage of commercial vehicles in residential zones; and
4. Amend the enforcement provisions so as to eliminate jail time for a first offense;
The way the Zoning Code is currently drafted, the maximum penalty is 30 days in the
County Jail which would require a jury trial for each zoning violation. As a practical
matter, no local judge is going to sentence someone to the County Jail for a first offense
of a zoning violation. A second violation should be limited to 10 days in the County Jail
plus fine.
If there are any questions regarding same, please advise accordingly
