2010-12-15 December 15, 2010 Supervisor Office DEe 2 0 2010 Received Mr. Graham Foster Town of Wappinger Highway Superintendent 20 Middlebush Road Wappinger Falls, NY 12590 Dear Graham: This letter is to address the continued hazardous ice condition that is located in front of my residence at 374 Cedar Hill Road. As you know, there is an issue with either water run-off staying in the roadway or underground seepage onto the roadway and freezing. This condition has been evident for the past few years. I know in the past that we have spoken of this, and your staff has attempted to make corrections to improve the condition. Additionally, I see the sand truck out most mornings sanding the area. While this is a help, there are many times at night and weekends when the roadway is icy. I am concerned for traffic safety in this area. I am also concerned for my family's safety as we exit our driveway, proceeding up the hill. It's often necessary to drive into the opposite lane to avoid the ice build-up. Even in non-freezing temperatures, in heavy rains, the water cascades across the roadway at this point. I still maintain a culvert is needed to keep the water on the other side of the roadway. Thank you for you past, and future help with this issue. I believe it to be an issue that needs to be addressed as it's a hazardous condition that jeopardizes motorist's safety. ~inc rely, / ,?
