Dear Clerk Masterson,
CitWms Campaign for the Environment (CCE) was founded in 1985 as a not-for-profit
organization by private citizens concerned with the protection of OQI' land and water resources. To
advance these goals, CCE engages in research, lobbying, and public education on key environmental
issues. We represent a membership base of OYer eighty thousand individuals across the East Coast.
As part of our public education campai~ CCE conducts a full time canvass throughout the state.
Our canvass disseJoina'tes fact sheets, conducts om membership drive. petitions, and does fundraising.
We have found that the time between 4 - 9 p.m. Monday through Friday to be the only productive time to
reach most adults at home. Each year we believe Out" members look forward to hearing from. us. as well
as the important iuues on which we are working.
We are available to canvass in the Wappinger Falls area as soon as possible. Since we are a
registered charitable organizati~ the Supreme Court has mled that registration with Jocal officials is not
mandatory. As a good faith effort, however. we will fn a list of names of all people who will be doing
our canvassing each day that we are in your municipality. Since this is not our first mit to your
municipality, you will find in. your reoords docwnents from our last canvassing activities. If you have any
questio~ please do not hesitate to call me at (914) 997-0946.
I have included a copy of our registration with the State Office of Charities as well as more
information on our current ~jW' Please respond in writing for my records to oW' White Plains office
at fax (914)997..0983, or W 19 Court Sum, Lower Level, White Plains, NY 10601.
Tlw1k you for your cooperation.
