She is checking with the Town of Poughkeepsie historian as to the location of Stoneco from the 1800' s. I have also left a message with our Town Historian to see if she can give us any further information on where "Stoneco" was actually located back then. Our former Town Clerk believes it was near what is now called "Trap Rock" which would be in the area of Town of Poughkeepsie. I'm sorry for the long delay but in the old books there are no index pages and every name on every page must be searched individually. I did a very thorough search of our records however. Thank you so much for taking the time to check on any other "Shaws" in the Village ofWappingers Falls. You are the best! I am so impressed. After I left the town hall I went exploring in the Village, viewed the beautiful Falls and spoke with some local folks who were very helpful. I then went to LaGrange, following the notation in the genealogy book you showed us but their records didn't go back as far as I needed. However, I did eventually find more "Shaws" in the area, again in Titusville. One is definitely my Great Grandfather 'Walter Shaw', the wool spinner born on the Titusville Rd. The other is my Great Great Grandfather 'Theron Shaw' born in 1828 in Titusville and worked as an 'Examiner' in the Wool Mill. At this point my trail seems to have gone cold so maybe I'll have to be a little more creative in my search. But it is a worthy search, puzzling sometimes but fun nonetheless. 'Imagine three generations of'Shaws' in the greater Wappingers area. I'm betting that there are more.
