Town Clerk
Dear Planning Board Members,
As we discussed on Monday, November 13, 1989 at the Planning Board
meeting, I went before the Town Board on Thursday. November 16, 1989
to explain The Alpine Companies sewer expenses. As a result of that
meeting, I was asked to write this letter to repeat my written and
verbal explanation. Below is a summary:
In order to provide sewer service to the Alpine site. Alpine has made
an agreement with the village of Wappinger Falls to purchase sewer
service from them. This will require Alpine running a force main to
the village at an estimated cost of $355,000.00. The town of
Wappinger hopes to construct a sewer trunk line through the Alpine
site at a date later than when Alpine would require sewer service.
At such time, Alpine would abandon their force main to the village
and tie into the newly created town trunk line. Alpine has offered
to give the town of Wappinger $355,000.00 to be used to advance the
towns trunk line construction schedule so that sewer service would be
available when Alpin~ hopes to open its new shopping center. Should
town sewer service be located on the Alpine site prior to Alpine
requiring such service, then The Alpine Companies expense to run the
force main to the village would be eliminated and in turn , the
payment to the town to advance the town's sewer trunk line would no
longer be required.
Let this letter serve as notice that in no way does Alpine expect the
timing of Alpine's permits to be rushed by the town or the necessary
procedures to be overlooked in order for the town to take advantage
of these funds. The purpose of this letter and the meetings prior to
this letter is to explain the offer in detail and the logic behind it.
