Dear Herb,
For quite some time, we have been exploring various options that
would provide sewer service for the shopping center that we would
like to develope on Route 9, south of Meyer's Corner Road. The
option that appears to be most favorable is the option that would
allow us to purchase sewer service from the village of Wappingers
Falls. We have approached the village and have received permission
to do so. This alternative would require Alpine to run a force main
from our site to the village connection point which is at or near the
connection point the town will be using once the town ties into
Tri-Municipal. The cost of such work is estimated by our engineers,
C.T. Male Associates to be $355,500.00.

While exploring the different alternatives, we have learned that the
Town of Wappinger is planning to construct a sewer trunk line from
Oakwood Knolls Sewage Treatment Plant to Tri-Municipal. The
estimated completion time for this line is approxiamately Fall of
1992 or later. At that time, Alpine will be asked to abandon its
force main to the village and connect to the newly created trunk
line. This does not appear to be a cost effective solution, to
disrupt the area for construction and then to abandon the line a
short time later. To maximize everyone's efforts, we would propose
to expedite the town's trunk line schedule by combining forces and
use the funds required to build the Alpine line to the village for
the towns trunk line. Of course , this alternative would work only if
the town were to use these funds to construct the trunk line on a
schedule that would provide sewer service to the site by
approxiamately September 1990.

Please review this suggestion, and then let me know as to whether or
not this is an alternative worth exploring further.
Very truly yours,
