Responsible for Map, Plan and Report.
Project includes the design and contract administration for a new 500,000 gpd
activated wastewater treatment facility; 20,000 LF of new collection system and six
new pump stations.
The treatment process, located entirely inside a building, includes screening. anoxic
tanks, aeration tanks with upflow clarifiers, microscreen filtration, flow measurement
and UV disinfection. The treatment process utilizes the BESST process as
manufactured by Purestream, Inc. Process, architectural, structural, site, mechanical.
electrical and instrumentation design services were all performed in-house.
. EXPANSION OF ARLINGTON WASTEWATER FACILlTY-
Town of Poughkeepsie, NY
Project includes the expansion of an existing activated sludge wastewater treatment
facility from 4.0 MGD to 5.0 MGD. Project design includes the design of the entire
facility to increase its capacity by I MGD.
Design includes a new primary treatment upgrade to include new headworks,
hydraulic upgrades to down stream treatment to reduce treatment by-pass during high
flows. upgrade of primary and secondary clarifiers, automation of aeration system.
sludge handling, and installation of ultraviolet disinfection for both average daily flows
as well as peak flows.
.
GREENPORT WASTEWATER FACILITY UPGRADE - Greenport, NY
Project provided for a process upgrade of an existing treatment facility. Detailed
design plans and specifications were prepared in response to a NYSDEC consent
order primarily requiring and end to SPDES permit violations regarding effluent water
quality at the previous average daily flow of 0.83 MGD.
Design included new headworks with screening and grit removal. new primary
treatment, Sequencing Batch Reactor technology for biological treatment of the
wastewater to meet organic and solids limits as set by the revised SPDES permit,
increased volume for sludge digestion, a new sludge dewatering belt press, continued
use of flow equalization, and ultraviolet light disinfection. A centralized SCADA
control system was implemented to oversee plant operations from offsite and to allow
for process conditions as well as alarm conditions to be logged. Major alarms at the
facility requiring immediate attention now are sent through the Town's telemetry
system during non-staffed hours to ensure prompt attention is provided.
The new design equipment was sized to accommodate a new average daily flow of
1.35 MGD as well as Inflow and Infiltration surges of up to 4.32 MGD.
. HIGHLAND WASTEWATER FACILITY EVALUATION AND EXPANSION
DESIGN - Town of Lloyd, NY
Project provided process evaluation of the treatment system and schematic design to
address aging system and expansion of system do to growth and storm water
influence.
Evaluation included new design for new headworks including screening and grit
removal, primary and secondary clarifiers, Rotating Biological Contactors (RBC).
anaerobic sludge digestion, and ultraviolet light disinfection for both average and peak
flows.

Reynolds Avenue.
. VANDERBURGH COVE SEWAGE TREATMENT & COLLECTION SYSTEM
REPLACEMENT-Town of Rhinebeck, NY
Two central Sand Filter Treatment Systems (Residential Sewage) are failing and
require replacement. The replacement systems must provide satisfactory treatment
to meet State DEC permit (SPDES) requirements and discharge to a tributary to the
Hudson River.
This office has designed two package plant treatment systems, including: septic,
equalization, pumping, aeration, Bioclere package tanks with filtration, chlorination,
controls, flow measurements, emergency power and retention of a portion of the
existing sand filter system for further polishing.

INFILTRATION AND INFLOW
. TOWN OF POUGHKEEPSIE, NY
Study involved televising, flow monitoring, smoke testing, reviewing tapes, evaluating
and providing recommendations for and implementing of repair methodologies. These
alternatives include: sealing/grouting manholes/sewer line spot repairs and pipe lining.
There have been over 2 miles of gravity sewer mains involved.
. TOWN OF LLOYD SEWER DISTRICT - Highland, NY
Conducted a comprehensive inflow and infiltration study of the entire sewer district
collection system. The study included the field gathering of existing infrastructure data
including locating all structures utilizing GPS equipment and mapping of the system
utilizing GIS technologies.
The gathering of information included conducting inspections of each of the 450
manholes within the system documenting the type, size, depth, and condition of each
manhole structure. The evaluation of the piping network included in placement of
flow measurement devises at various points within the system and also the televising
of over 6 miles of sewer pipeline.
Upon completion of the system evaluation, this office compiled a report providing
recommendations for and implementing of repair methodologies. These alternatives
include: sealing/grouting manholes/sewer line spot repairs and pipe lining. The report
also prioritized the areas of greatest deterioration and provided a recommended
schedule for implementation.
Based on the recommendations this office prepared construction budget information
including bond estimates and anticipated yearly financial impact to residence within the
district. This information assisted the Town in the creation of its yearly budget for
the district as well as valuable information utilized for bonding purposes.
. GREENFIELDS - Hyde Park, NY
The Greenfield's Development in Hyde Park is operated by the Town of Hyde Park
and consists of approximately 260 single family homes. The development was built in
the late 1960's and the sewer plant is permitted for 145,000 gpd. The sewer plant was
plagued by 1&1 issues and a consent order was issued by the NYSDEC.
_ As Town Consulting Engineer, Morris Associates worked with the sewer operator to
review previous TV line inspections and to implement new TV inspections of critical
areas. In addition, all manholes were inspected for leakage after heavy rainfall events.
There are approximately 2,200 feet of sewer mains within the Greenfield's
development. We then prepared a municipal bid contract for repairs to both
manholes and critical line breaks. This work was completed in 2005 and based on flow
monitoring at the plant the 1&1, has been substantially reduced.

SITE PLAN CONFORMANCE
III
it
Also in our capacity as Town Engineer, we are responsible for ensuring that site plans for
commercial sites are constructed in conformance with plans approved by municipal planning
boards. Site inspections include parking, drainage, roadway landscaping and lighting
improvements, as well as architectural facades. Also included in our site inspections is erosion
control. With new Phase II Storm Water regulations, municipalities are responsible for ensuring
that construction sites are in conformance with approved erosion control plans. Providing this
inspection ensures the municipality that these requirements are satisfied and that the Town's
general permit is not jeopardized.

RECREATION PROJECTS
~
i.
Our municipal recreation project experience ranges from a splash pool for the Village of Millerton to
master planning, design, public bidding and construction administration for the many varied recreation
facilities of the Town of East Fishkill. Park features we have planned, designed and prepared construction
documents for include:

Walk/Hike Trails Basketball Courts General Ughting
Public Use Structures Skating Rinks Sporting/Field Ughting

Park and Recreation facilities will not be utilized unless they offer easy to access. fun. diverse activities and
attractive spaces. We know this as a result of both our design experience and as users. We also
understand that financial responsibility for a park or recreation area does not end with the construction
phase. Providing spaces and features that are easy to maintain or require little maintenance and still have
good appearance will go a long way toward use longevity and continued use.
