Town Board -
Wappingers Falls, N.Y.
Dear Lou,
I believe that it is time for the Town of Wappinger to
consider widening and grooming the shoulders of town roads so
that they may be used for safe walking and bicycling. Other
area town have already given this project some thought. 1
hope to introduce this idea on a county level in the near future.
From what I can gather the cost will not be prohibitive.
and the upkeep minimal. The benefits, of course, will be
great. They include:
1. Recreational
2: Possible. reduced. school busing
3. Greater access to town and shopping areas by youngsters
and other non -drivers. -
There is a definite need here that can be satisfied at
low cost. Would you and the rest of the Town Board please
study this proposal, I would be happy to hear your collective
opinion and to discuss the idea with you.
Sincerely yours,
s/ Dan
Daniel J. Hannigan
MR. HOLTmovedthis letter be forwarded to Mr. Horton, Highway
Superintendent, for a look at the costs and also a selection of
which roads might best be adapted.
