Galvanized net-securing collars at the top and
bottom of the two end posts hold the net-securing
cable in place. Another collar halfway up the post
has an open eyebolt to hook the cable into after
the net is raised to reduce cable sag and hold the
net close to the post
o
Vinyl-coated steel cable holds net close to
end posts for greatly reduced inward net
sag and better coverage
c
Stainless steel pear clips hook onto the net every
18" to hold it close to the steel cable and are free
to slide up and down when raising and lowering
the net (x13)
Turnbuckle allows for easy cable
tensioning from ground level by hand
B
Vinyl-coated steel cable holds net close
to the ground to prevent equipment from
leaving the enclosed area.

MBS-20
20' MUL TI-SPORT BALLSTOPPER SYSTEM
INSTALLATION AND ASSEMBLY INSTRUCTIONS
INSTALLING GROUND SLEEVES:
1. Locate proper location for placement of MBS-20. Center system off the goal a
minimum of 5 yards off the end line, which allows adequate deceleration time for
players. Recommendation: Place 15 to 25 feet off the end line.
2. Dig 30" diameter holes a maximum of 20' apart (on center), a minimum of 36" deep
for a grass field (3S" deep for an artificial turf field). Belling the bottom of the holes is
recommended to help prevent any heaving.
Spacing Example: For 60' long section, space 4 ground sleeves 20' apart. For 75' long section,
space 5 ground sleeves 18'-9" apart, since if you did 4 ground sleeve it would be~.
(Consult local building codes for concrete depth and drainage requirements.)
3. Fill bottoms with at least S" of crushed stone.
4. For a grass field, install 30" ground sleeves so that the top of the ground sleeves
are flush with ground level. For an artificial turf field, recess ground sleeves 2" (or
the depth of the turf and filler surface) so they can be covered when the system is in
storage. Make sure they are plumb, level, and centered according to "spec". Pour
concrete (3000Ibs. mix) all around the ground sleeves. (Be sure not to get any
concrete inside the ground sleevesl) If this is a grass field installation, make sure
to leave 4" of space between the top of the concrete and the top of the ground
sleeve to fill with dirt (making the dirt flush with the top of the ground sleeve) to
grow grass. In an artificial turf installation, pour the concrete to the top of the ground
sleeve. Taper the concrete and create a slope around the sleeve (maximum 1"
drop) so water drains away from the sleeve. As the concrete cures, constantly
check that the sleeves are plumb and level.
MBS-20 ASSEMBLY:
1. Assemble hardware components on each pole per Drawing No. MBS-20-C-001.
2. Install an end post vertical cable assembly on each of the system's two end posts.
Attach a galvanized post collar to the top of the end post and another at ground
level (30" from the bottom). The cable comes attached to a turnbuckle at the bottom.
Attach the loose end of the cable to the top collar with an anchor shackle and attach
the bottom of the turnbuckle to the bottom collar using another anchor shackle.
Tension the cable with the turnbuckle. Install a third galvanized post collar with an
open eyebolt halfway between the top and bottom collars. Be sure the open eyebolt
is in line with the cable and the open side is pointing away from the rest of the
system. Pull the cable so it is outside the eyebolt.
INSERTING ASSEMBLED GOAL:
1. Be sure concrete is fully cured before attempting to insert assembled poles into
the ground sleeves.
2. Use at least two (2) people to lift and stabilize the pole, and bring it to a vertical
position. Do not drop the poles into the ground sleevesll
3. Attach each end of the horizontal net cable assembly to the anchor shackle at the
Page 1 of 2

INSTALLATION AND ASSEMBLY INSTRUCTIONS
bottom of the end posts. Tension the cable using the turnbuckles at both ends.
Tighten the lock nuts on the turnbuckles once the cable is tensioned sufficiently.
Clip the cable to the galvanized collar at the bottom of each post along the length of
the system using a pear clip.
ATTACHING THE NET:
1. Lay net on playing field side with the cable side closest to the pole and pull the net
evenly across from end to end.
Note: Nets are made a little longer to allow for adjustments (60'-6" for a 60' section)
~. Start at one end and work your way down. Attach first o-ring with cable clamp to the
top corner (cable) of the net on the second net block in. This will allow enough slack
for the end of the net to be tied-off to the end post to create a finished look.
3. Measure distance between posts and assemble next o-ring on to the net cable with
a cable clamp.
4. Lower the hoisting rope and attach pear clip to the o-ring.
5. Begin raising the net. While raising the net, clip the edge of the net to the vertical
end post cable using a pear clip about every 6-8".
6. Lower net and repeat Steps NO.3 thru 4.
7. Raise the net fully. Pull the vertical cables on each end post into the open eyebolts
halfway up the post to reduce bowing of the net.
8. -Attach the bottom edge of the net to the horizontal net cable every 6-8" using plastic
zip-ties. Raise the net fully and verify that the net sag is to your approval. Typical
sag should be no more than 6 to 8 inches.
MAINTENANCE AND CARE:
1. The net should only be raised when needed during games or practices.
LOWER IN HIGH WINDS I
2. The net should be taken in and stored indoors during the off-season, or if the
system will not be used for an extended period of time. This will prolong the life of
your net by keeping it out of the harsh environmental elements such as wind and
sun.
See AAE's BallStopper Net Drum (BND), which provides best storage for nets to
keep mice and pests from eating through expensive nets.
