An. :Open Hearing was held on June 19, 1961, in the Masonic Hall
Mill Street. The meeting was called to order by Richard H.
Linge, Supervisor at 8 P. M.
Present: -Members of the Recreation committee, about 60 people
from the comm hitt' and the Town Board.
An open discussion was held in reference to the purchase of the
Becker Property for Recreational purposes.
A special meeting tf,ethe Town Board, Town of Wappinger was held
in the Town Hall , on June 19, 1961 at 9 P. M.
Present:- Justice of Peace -Edward B. Beatty and Joseph F. Kelly,
Councilman -Emory J. Hager and Malcolm 1. Hait, Supervisor, Richard
H. Linge.
The following resolution was made by Councilman Hait and seconded
by Judge Kelly:
WHEREAS, this Town Board recognizes the present and future needs
of our rapidly growing population for outdoor recreational fac-
ilities, and the need to insure the continued existence of pre-
dominantly open and natural lands for patk, conservation and re-
creational purposes, and to prevent such lands from being perman-
ently lost because of the increase in expansion of urban and sub-
urban areas, and
WHEREAS, the Town of Wappinger has heretofore acquired an option
on approximately 49.7 acres of land on the westerly side of Robin-
son Lane, and including Sprout Creek to the center line therof,
said option covering lands of the Estate of Theodore Becker, the
agreed purchase price, if such optinn be exercised, being $17,500.00.
NOW,THEREFORE, be it resolved by the Town Board of the Town of

Wappinger as follows:
1. That said option be exercised immediately and that
the Estate be so informed and requested to proceed forthwith
with the legal steps necessary to transfer title to said parcel
to the Town.
2. That title to said lands be acquired by the Town
of Waopinger as soon as poss rble.
3. That the property be acquired out of Town funds,
without the aid and the accompanying supervision and restrictions
on use which would bb attendant upon use of moneys available for
such acquisition of this site under the New York State "Park and
Recreation Land Acquisition Act".
4. That the method of financing the aforesaid project
shall be by means of any current funds availabe and further by
means of obligations issued pursuant to and within the limits
set by the Constitution and the Local Finance Law of the State
of New York. That such obligations are hereby authorized, and
that the form, type, amounts, maturities and other details of
the same shall be determined by further action of this Board
when the sale is about to be effected and the deed ready for
delivery.
THIS RESOLUTION shall take effect immediately.
