1961-07-06The regular monthly meeting of the Town Board, Town of Wappinger
was held in the Town Hall, on Thursday evening, July 6, 1961.
Present: -Supervisor -Richard H. Linge, Justices of the Peace -
Joseph F. Kelly and Edward B. Beatty, Councilman -Malcolm I.
Hait, Town Attorney -James J. Lyons, Superintendent of High-
ways -Charles E. Mewkill, Sr., Town Cleric -Helen L. Travis.
The meeting was opened at 8 P. M. by Supervisor, Richard
H. Linge.
The minutes of thelast meeting were read and a motion was made
byJudge Kelly and seconded by Councilman Hait that they be
accepted as read. Motion carried.
The bills for the month of =T were read. A Motion was made by
Judge Beatty and seconded by Judge Kelly that the bills be paid.
Motion carried.

The matter of an ordinance for making Old Troy Road a one way
road was brought up. A motion was made by Councilman Hait and
seconded by Judge Beatty that Old Troy Road be made a one way
road from Wheeler Hill Road to New Hamburg Road. Motion Carried
A rider extending the Bond of Fred. Lafko for two years was
received. A motion was made by Councilman Hait and seconded
by Judge Kelly that this be accepted. Motion carried.
A letter was received from Mr. De Luca and one from Normington
Tc�tv
Scofield for the Village asking V Mage to give permission for
Sewerage. After a discussion on this matter the Board decided
to hold this matter over for a special meeting.
A letter was read from Residents of Dugan Lane and a delegation
was present, dismissing the Road situation. The Board stated
that there was nothing that they could do until the road met
the specifications of the Town.
A letter was received from the Southern-Dutchess News stating
there would be no charge for legpl notices for the next six
months, until December 31, 1961.
A motion was made by Judge Beatty and seconded by Councilman
Hait that the attached resolution for the purchase of a Pay -
loader be accepted. Motion carried.
Resolution was made by Judge Kelly and seconded by Councilm
Hait as follows:
WHEREAS, Mrs. Willis Reese has tendered to the Town of
Walpiavevn a gift t of moneys in the amount of °1 `f C' C . ac) , and
WHFREAS, such gift is conditioned upon the donor's
express condition that said sum be expended in its entirety to
acquire a certain parcel of land of approximately acre,
situate in Marl.orville, in the Town of Wappinger, the same to be
used for Town Park and recreational purposes.
NOW, THEREFORE, pursuant to paragraph 8 of Section 64 of
the Town Law, BE IT RESOLVED that said gift be and it hereby is
accepted by the Town on such condition, and he it
FURTHER RESOLVED that the Town Supervisor be and he
hereby is authorized and directed to accept such sum and toforth-
with pay out the same for acquistion of the land so spedified
to be used by the Town for the purposes afnuesaid.
THIS RESOLUTION sahll take effect immediately
Mr. Bisom asked about building new Municipal Building. The
Board stated that the matter was under considerqtion for
a later date.
Mr. Feinberg appeared and asked about what is needed for Town
to accept roads in new developements. The Board explained the
road specifications and the Posting of Bond for same*
Fleetwood Homes asked for letter from Village pertaining to
Sewer System. Board stated that Mr. Lyons would take care
of same for them
Mr. John Simonetty presented, Bond, Deed and map of his road,
asking Town to accept them. Motion was made by Councilman Hait
and seconded by Judge Beatty that this Deed and Bond be accepted
for the Roads, by the Town, subject to approval of Town Engineer
and Town Attorney. Motion carried*
Motion was made by Judge Kelly and seconded by Councilman Hait
that the meeting adjourn. Motion carried.
