1962-04-11The regular monthly meeting of the Town Board, Town of Wappinger
Wednesday
was held in the Town Hall, on iimrxsixy evening, April 11, 1962.
Present: -Supervisor -Richard H. Linge, Councilmen -Malcolm I.
Hait and George Robinson, Justices of the Peace -Joseph F.
Kelly and Edward B. Beatty, Superintendent of Highways -
Charles E. Mewkill, Sr., Town Attorney -Judson C. Williams,
Town Engineer -Charles Maneri, Town Clerk -Helen L. Travis,
Building Inspector -Kenneth Thornton.
The meeting was opened at 8:00 o'cicok by Supervisor Richard
H. Linge.
The minutes of thelast meeting were read. Motion was made by
Justice of Peace, Kelly and seconded by Councilman Robinson
,that they be accepted as read. Motion carried.
The bills for the month of March were read. Motion was made
be Justice of Peace Beatty and seconded by Councilman Hait
that the bills be accepted and paid.

A letter was received from the Model Airplane Club, the Town
Clerk was requested to turn this over to the Recreation Committee,
The following resolution was made by Justice of Peace Beatty
and seconded by Justice of Peace Kelly and carried.
RESOLVED that Supervisor, Richard H. Linge be and he hereby
is authorized on behalf of Town of Wappinger to apply to the
Division for, Youth of the State of New York for approval of a
recreation project- pursuant to. Article 19-A of the Executive
Law of State of New York, and to take such other and further
action on behalf of the Town to prosecute said application for
State Aid for Recreation projects pursuant to said law as may
seem to, him necessary or desirable.
The following resolution was made by Justice of Peace Beatty
and seconded by Coundilman Hait and carried.

RESOLVED that the amount of
298.75 be transferred from
fiscal year 1961 unexpended balances included in the General
Fund twain of the Town, to the 1962 Assessor's Office and Other
Expense; Account for the purpose of making payment of the claim

of Edward Rusted in such amount for services performed for the
Town during 1961, which said claim is hereby audited and allowed.
Motion was made by Councilman Hait and Seconded by Councilman
Robinson that the contract to plow the grounds in front of the
firestation be accepted. Motion carried
A letter was received from Mr. Keegan asking for the use of
voting machines for the School Election. Motion was made by
Justice of Peace Kelly and seconded by Justice of Peace Beatty
that this permission be granted. Motion carried.
Superintendent of Highways, Charles E. Mewkill, Sr., asked for
permission to purchasea new pick up truck with dump body.
Motion was made by Counciiman Hait and seconded by Councilman
Robinson that Mr. Mewkill be authorized to publish bids for
a pick up truck with dump body. Motion carried
MIr•. Robinson reported hbout dumping along Highway in Cove at
Chelsea, N. Y.
The Kiwanis reported that there will be a work day at the Becker
property on April 21, 1962, all are invited to help.
Building inspector, Kenneth Thornton, reported that the building
permits are equalling about the same as last year.
Mr. Arthur Bisom wished to go on record as asking about a full
time assessor and building inspector. Board stated that they
are looking into the matter.
Mr. Hannon asked about letter written by Mr. Brannan of the Dem-
ocratic Club. Mr. Linge stated letter had been addressed to him
and that it had been discussed by the Board.
Mr. William Eagen asked about Zoning Plans.
Mr. J. Welsh inquired about the Junk Yard Ordinance
Mr. Knud Clausen asked about Junk Yard Ordinance and about the

culvert being filled in.
Motion was made by Justice of Peace Kelly and seconded by CoVnncilman
Robinson that the meeting adjourn. Motion carried.
