207 A public Hearing was held on the 1963 proposed budget, of the Town of Wappinger on Thursday evening, November 1st, 1962 from 7 P. M. to 8 P. M. Present:-Supergisor-Richard H. Line, Councilmen -Malcolm Hait and George Robinson, Town Attorney -Judson Williams, Justice of the Peace -Edward B. Beatty -Town Clerk -Helen L. Travis The meeting was called for the Town Hall, but there being so many people the meeting was adjourned to the Auditorium above the Town Hall, About 70 people attended. Most of the discussion was in reference to the re -appraisal of property and about the proposition of the one-man ass- essor. Mr. Brannen did question about the raise in the Attorney salary, which was answered by Attorney Williams. Many citizens of the Town spoke at this time but very few about the budget, most of them about the above questions. Mr. Louis Eck raised the cuestion why the salary of the Town Clerk was not raised. This was answered by the Clark, stating she had asked for additional steady help instead of raise. The romatingxa hearing adjourned at 9:15 P. M. M. by Super- visor -Richard H. Linge. Notion was made b„r Justice of the Peace Beatty and seconded by Councilman Hait that the attached buJget for the year 1963 be accented. Notion was carried. Supervisor Linge presented the proposition to the Board that a referendum be held on the one-man assessor. Notion was made by Councilman Hait and seconded by Coun- cilrLan Robinson that the Board sip;nify their intention to call for a referendum on the one man assessor nropos- ition. notion carried. Motion Was made by Councilrnan haft; and seconded by Councilmen Beatty that we adjourn.
