M. - Town Hall The regular meeting of the Recreation Commission was held on October 7, 1971 at 8:00 P. M. at the Town Hall. Attending: Messrs. Hugh J. Maurer, George Sch1athaus, James V. Porter, John C. Biasotti Mrs. Alfred Arkell and Mrs. R. L. Beahan Mr. Thomas Rogers, Director of Recreation Absent: Ur. Richard Garren The minutes of the previous meeting were accepted as presented. Recreation Consultants, Inc. A letter dated October 1, 1971 was received from Mrs. Brinton of the consulting firm and enclosed were copies of the Wappinger Area and Facility Cost Estimates. Copies were distributed to commissioners with the request that they study the areas and proposals in advance of the meeting scheduled for October 28th, at which time representatives from Recreation Consultants, Inc. will be present to review this information with the Commission. It was reported that survey forms have been prepared by the consultants and will be forwarded to the Commission. It was the opinion of Commission members that forms should be sent to one out of every three residents of the Town of Wappinger. Mr. Biasotti was requested to check with the Wappingers Central School District to determine whether-or not a listing of Town residents is avail- able to the Comndssion and, if so, whether or' not address labels for same can be prepared for the Recreation Commission, and what the cost would be. .liorse Show Mr. Maurer reported that arrangements are being completed for the Show which will be held at the Robinson Lane Recreation Area on October 17th at 9:00 A.lf. Pondview --- A letter dated September 24, 1971 was received from the Planning Board with the recommendation thA.t lots 1 through 6 be accepted as recreation land with an easement between lots 29 and 30 to allow access from the development to the recreation land. The P1annin~ Board also recommended that,if this land is unacceptable to the Commiss:lon,the'sum of $100 per approved lot on the final subdivision plat be accepted in lieu of land. Commissioners felt that the land being offered was not suitable for recreation purposes. Mrs. Arkell and Hr. Porter are to contact the Planning Board to tell them of this and the secretary was requested to prepare a letter to this effect,as well. Arrangements will also be made to meet with Barger and Russ to further discuss the matter. Page 2 Minutes of Recreation Commission Meeting - October 7, 1971 Hughsonvi 11 e The secretary reported that she had been advised by Mr. Garren that a site plan had been received from the Hughsonville Fire District. Robinson Lane Recreation Area A letter dated September 30, 1971 was received from the Dutchess County Department of Health and attached to it a construction permit for the installation of a wastewater disposal system. Mr. Maurer reported that only two bids had been received for installation of a pump and water tank. They are as follows: 2. Hudson Valley Pump Base Bid - $930 (with plastic pipe) Base Bid - $958 (with copper and galvanized pipe) 1. Ifill Enterprises It was the opinion of the Commission that copper and galvanized pipe would be more desirable and that, although the Hudson Valley Pump bid was some- what higher, it should be accepted. Letters The following letters were received and read: 1. Letter dated 9/20/71 from :Mrs. Snowden, Town Clerk, informing the Commission of a vacancy on the Planning Board created by the resigna- tion of Eugene Schuele and stating that if the Commission has any. recommendations the Town Board will give them every consideration. 2. Letter dated 9/13/71 from Mrs. Willis Reese with a check in the amount of ~200 to help defray the- cost of the youth Program. 3. Copy of letter dated 9/17/71 to Supervisor Diehl from Albert Wilson, Chief, Real Property Division, U.S.A. General Services Administration, requesting a plan for use of the Castle Point property be Bubmi tted on or before October 18, 1971. 4. Copy of Supervisor Diehlts letter of 9)22/71 to Mr. Rappleyea, Town Attorney, asking that he request an extension of time ( l2/30/71)in order that plans can be prepared for the Castle Point property. Preliminary subdivision mapa were received from the Planning Board on the following. 1. Gilman subdivision. A note was attached indicating that a site inspection is scheduled to take place on Saturday, October 16th, at 9:15 A. M. 2.
