Minutes of September 9, 1971 Meeting

~he regular meeting of the Recreation Commission was held on September 9 1971
at 8:00 P.M. at the Robinson Lane Field House. Prio~ to the meeting the'
Commission members had an opportunity to inspect the new building.

Minutes of the previous meeting were accepted as submi t ted.

Recreation Consultants, Inc.
Mr. Maurer reported that representatives of the above firm hope to meet with
the Commission sometime near the end of this month. Mrs. Brinton plans to
send the next phase of their study in advance of the meeting in order that
Commissioners will have an opportunity to review the information.
Horse Show,
Mr. Maurer advised that a tentative date of October lOth has been set for '
the Annual Horse Show. More details will be available at the next meeting.

It wa,s reported by Mr. Maurer that damaged bridges had. been repaired. In
most cases it was necessary to replace 95% of the planks.
After a discussion regarding vandalism at the park the decision was made to
check the possibility of placing a chain across the roadway to the park.
Mr. Garren is to investigate th~s possibility.

Mrs. Beahan again approached the subject of a roller skating party. Although
no definite decision was'made, there was considerable discussion regarding'
the possibility of erecting a steel building at some future date that would
provide facilities for both roller skating in the summer and ice skating'in
the winter. Mr. Schlathaus will investigate the cost of a steel building
approximately 200. x 100'.
~choonmaker Homes
It was brought to the attention of the Commission that more homes are being'
built at All Angels Road and Hopewell Road but that no word has been received
regarding dedication of recreation land. A letter is to be 'sent to the Planning
Board asking what action is being taken.

Commissioners were reminded by Mr. Maurer that a meeting will be held on
September 23, 1971 at the Town Hall at 8:00 P.K. in order to prepare the
proposed budget. l~
