TOWN OF WAPPINGER RECREATION COMMISSION
MINUTES OF APRIL 5, 1973 MEETING
Next meeting - May 10, 1973 - 7:30 p.m.
The regular meeting of the Town of Wappinger Recreation Commission
was 'held at the Town Hall on April 5, 1973 at 7:30 p.m.
Attending: Messrs. Hugh J. Maurer, George Schlathaus, James V. Porter
and Richard Garren; Mrs. R. L. Beahan
Mr. W. Thomas Rogers, Director of Recreation
Absent: Mrs. Alfred Arkell
Mr. Maurer brought up the subject of Cluster Homes, asking the
Board to ~xpress their feelings about it. A discussion followed
in which there were mixed emotions from the point that each one
should be handled on an individual basis to complete abolishment
from Town entirely. The conclusion was a request to have Mr. Maurer
obtain additional detailed information on these homes and report back.
DIRECTOR OF ;RECREATION
Mr. Rogers received a great deal of correspondence from Ski Haus for
various types of trips. The Commission approved to have Mr. Rogers
organize a irip sponsored by Ski Haus to West Point and Brotherhood
Winery. Also, the Commission suggested that a minimum age(due to
Winery) be 18 years old.
Mr. Rogers advised that baseball trips were advertised under Wappinger
Recreation in the Southern Dutchess News on March 29, 1973. The dates
for baseball trips this summer are Shea and the Mets will be Wednesday,
July 11th and at Yankee Stadium will be Wednesday, August 8th.
Letters requesting applications for summer employment are now being
accepted. Mr. Rogers will contact the Recreation Commission Secretary
to notify the Commissioners as to the date to be set up for screening
interviews for recreation jobs.

HORSE SHOW
Mr. Maurer advised the Commission that May 19th is the date for House
Show Competition to be held at Robinson Lane between Roy C. Ketcham
and John Jay High Schools.
FLEEHJOOD
Mr. Garren said he has been in contact with Mr. Incoronato and weather
permitting, grounds will be re-seeded. No bids were received for fancing.
Letters will be sent to various fencing companies to obtain prices in lieu
of bids.
Mr. Garren stated that although the Jamison Company was the low8s~ o~dder
for swing set received; he would like to go on record recommending ~ne
Commission not to re-order from this vendor again. Due to inconvenience,
aggrevation and frustration he under went to finally receive merchandise.

Mr. Porter said Quiet Acres needs to have something done about the
road and suggested that tile be put in similar to Robinson Lane. He
advised Commission that benches were being made. Also, Mr. Maurer will
~rder the Infield Clay which is needed at Quiet Acres.
MEMBERSHIP TO COMMISSION
A motion was made to recommend Mr. Joseph Ennesser as Commissioner to
fill the unexpired term of Mr. Biasotti. A letter presenting his name
will be sent to the Town Board for approval.
GIRLS SOFTBALL

Mrs. BeaKan, advised the girls are waiting for schedule of fields. Before
meeting was over Mr. Ennesser was contacted in reference to schedule for
Little L~ague and arrangements were made for girls to use Robinson Lane
2 nights and Quiet Acres 2 nights.
DUTCHESS;CQUNTY SEMINAR
Mr. Maurer informed the Commission about 2 Siminars he attended at Farm
and Home Center, Millbrook and that there will be 1 more on April 18th.
The Seminar's recommendation on recreation land was for every 1,000
people th~re should b~ 10 acres of land available.
BROOKVALE
The Recreation Commission unanimously agreed to accept the land for
recreation on Brookvale Subdivision. Letter was sent April 9th to
Planning Board advising same.
VALLEY VIEW and CENTRAL PARK
After a field trip is made to Valley View Farms and Central Park Homes,
the Commission will advise Planning Board of their recommendations.
