WAPPINGERS PARK
Mrs. Rose Welrs (297-4675) 'Chairman of the Wappingers Park Home Owners
Association inquired about the Town taking over the area near the pump
house for recreation. She said she could obtain a letter from Mr. Hankin
with a 10 year lease with the only stipulation that if the present well
goes dry then he could drill for a new well on the recreation area. There
seemed to be some doubt from the Commissioners that she could get his letter
of approval for a.lease. .,
Mr. Porter informed Mrs. Wells that the recreation area would be'for the
whole Town and not just for the Wappingers Park residents, which she said
she was aware of.that. Mr. Garren advised the Commission that it did need
a lot of fill and possibly should check it out. Mr~ Schlathaus said we
should confer with the Town Attorney on the legal aspects. Mr. Maurer said
he would check into the legal end of liability and Rudy Lapa, Town Engineer
on cost of fill. The Commissioners are going to make a field trip before
making any decisions to convert the area for another Town Recreation site.
Mrs. Wells requested to be called and Mr. Maurer said he would be in contact
with her on results of field trip.
~~GEL BROOK
Mr. Thomas Truman, Chairman of Angel Brook Civic Association stated that the
Commission was in there and graded area with bull dozer and on behalf of our
development wish to thank you for all you have done. I would like to know
what is the next step.:,. Raking and seeding it.is next step stated Mr. Maurer,
but it has been too hot for seeds to take, we're planning on seeding this fall.
Mr. Truman stated he appreciated the Commission's taking interest and asked
if area is large enough' to put up baseball field. Area is not large enough
stated Mr. Maurer. Mr. Schlathaus suggested to put blacktop and basketball
court. Mr. Maurer suggested for him to see what the majority wanted to do
in that area and get'back to us.
The Civil Association is having annual picnic in fall and wanted to know if
there was an area they could use because their area wouldn't have any grass
in time for picnic. Mr. Maurer told him to let Commission have a date and
will keep area for them, possibly at Robinson Lane.

was a Tandum Truck driving over area to deliver chemicals and the grass is
not holding up. Also, he wanted to know when the swings were going to be
put up. The Commissioners asked him to draw a map of where he wanted swings,
and they were haVing a problem in finding someone to put them up. Mr. Garren
told Mr. Incoronato to look at the swings and if he could find someone to
put them up Mr. Maurer said he would okay the bill.0
> POP ItJAR~JER
Mrs. Mary Schmalz (297-9520) wants the budget to appropriate for Pop Warner
equipment for two teams, equivalent to Little League. Mr. Schlathaus pointed
out that ther~ was a football field built at Robinson Lane, where there are
toilets, dressing rooms etc. The problem is that it is Town owned property
and teams have outside of Town limits children participating in Pop Warner, as
well as Town residents. Mr. Maurer asked Mrs. Schmalz to send us a letter
requesting what you want before next meeting.
