1974-01-17 t:t~u ~.x..- "V TOW~ OF WAPPINGER RECREATION COMMISSION MINUTES OF JANUARY 17, 1974 MEETING Next meeting - February 7, 1974 at 7:30 p.m. The regular meeting of the Town of Wappinger Recreation Commission was held at the Town Hall on January 17, 1974 at 7:30 p.m. Attending: Mossrs. Hugh Maurer, George Schlathaus, Joseph Ennesser, Richard Garren, James V. Porter; Mrs. Alfred Arkell and Mrs. Raymond Beahan. Director of Recreation, Mr. W. Thomas Rogers DIRECTOR OF RECREATION Mr. Rogers stated that all of the winter programs were under way. Attendance was lower than normal due to bad weather but expected higher attendance this week. Mr. Rogers asked if anyone had any questions about the future Ski Trips scheduled. Mr. Maurer stated that Dutchess Ski turned everybody away last weekend. Dutchess apparently didn't have a sample card and said we didn't have any agreement. Mr. Rogers couldn't understand what had happened as he had made arrangements and said he check into the matter immediately. Before the meeting ended Mr. Rogers telephoned Mr. Maurer advising Recreation Commission that the original agreement he made with Dutchess Ski was once again approved which included reduced rates for week-ends. Mr. Garren recommended that the Commission get something in writing from any Ski area so as not to cause the same problem again as we had this year. Mr. Rogers stated he set up two day Ski Trips and one week-end Ski Trip, which waS publicized in the Southern Dutchess News. Mr. Schlathaus asked Mr. Rogers if he had any additional information on Roller Skating? Mr. Rogers said he had not heard anything yet due to the continued fuel shortage and the company can't run their trucks. Mr. Rogers was requested to contact the company again to see if something could be done to obtain roller skating. Also, a request was made for Mr. Rogers to contact Parker's for skiing. Mr. Rogers asked if there were any other questions, if not, then he would like to request to leave. TENNIS COURTS & MARTZ FIELD Mr. Maurer suggested to get together with individuals experienced in handling tennis courts and set up a meeting to help with rules and regulations to be used on courts. Mr. Maurer made a request to have Mr. Ennesser handle Martz Field due to the additional work load expected from completed tennis courts. A meeting had been set for 8:00 p.m. on February 7th and Mr. Ennesser will contact Tennis Instructors and other individuals who can help formulate rules and regulations for courts. ' SUMMER PLAYGROUND SURVEY Mr. Ennesser volunteered to mimeograph Survey and requested Secretary to have an electronis stencil made due to large number of copies requested by various . civic organization who are going to handle distribution of survey. Mr. Porter needed 400 copies and Mr. Ennesser needed 250 copies by Saturday. CORRESPONDENCE Letter were dieted to the Secretary in answer to two letters from Planning Board on Adams & Puretz site and Pine Hollow site. ~ 10WN ~F WAPPINGER RECREATION COMMISSION Minutes of January 17, 1974 Meeting Page 2 SUMMER APPLICANTS Mr. Garren inquired if anything was being done in reference to sending applications for summer jobs. A discussion followed in reference to age of applicants, qualifications, etc, Mr. Maurer said due to heavy schedule for next meeting that we would have to table it until March meeting or set up a special meeting. SCHOONMAKER & ROCKINGHAM HOMES Mr. Maurer advised the Commissioners that C.O. 's and Building Permits have been suspended until the builders satisfy Recreation Commission. MINUTES Mr. Maurer made a recommendation that all Recreation Minutes be approved by Commissioners before they are distributed. Motion carried unanimously. COMMISSIONER APPOINTMENT Mr. Maurer congratulated Mr. Porter on his recent appointment to the Planning Board. Mr. Porter thanked everyong and said it has been a pleasure working with them. Also, :Mr. said he would be happy to serve at your pleasure when asked. ROBINSON LANE BUILDING Mr. Ennesser advised of the vandalism done to the Robinson Lane building on the overhead doors,etc. which had already been repaired.
