Next meeting - to be announced
The regular meeting of the Town of Wappinger Recreation Commission was held
at the Town Hall on April 25, 1974 at 7:30 p.m.
Attending: Messrs. Hugh J. Maurer, Joseph Ennesser, James Porter,
Richard Garren and Mrs. Raymond Beahan.
Mr. W. Thomas Rogers, Director of Recreation
Absend: Mrs. Alfred Arkell and Mr. George Schlathaus
ANGEL BROOK ESTATES
Mr. Allen Hall, Representative from Angel Brobk, adv{sed that the $1,000
was transferred for his area. Also the drainage has not been resolved yet.
Mr. Maurer said next week Commissioners along with Town Engineer will go
out and look situation over. The backstop will be put in in approximately
2 weeks.
COMMUNITY CENTER
Mr. Donald Stein, one of The Community Center Committee members, discussed
area that Youth Board intentions lean towards dances. Kids are to run
operation with adult supervision. Roller skating was another area which
already is receiving approval from Wappingers to use school gym. Mr. Maurer
directed Secretary to send list of names, addresses & telephone numbers to
Youth Board on the Committee for Community Center.
FOOTBALL
Mr. Roy Munao spoke on problem they are having financially with football.
He was advised that Commission needed itemized list for all equipment and
that budget was formulated in August and September. Commissioners need
list for bid so we can advise you what we can do for you in June.
PLANNING BOARD
Mr. Robert Steinhaus, Chairman of Planning Board expressed that he would
like to give Commissioners some of their problems. He advised of in public
and various agency departments use different methods of communication. Town
of Wappinger uses buck slip application asking for a reply in certain amount
of time. The Planning Board has to operate under Law and must act with in
so many days. Mr. Steinhaus went into detail about Public Hearings machinery.
Their official meetings are 1st and 3rd Monday for public meetings. He would
like to see better communication between Planning and Recreation.
Mr. Maurer expressed some problems is where we think is the recreatibn area
sometime turns out to be another area. Mr. Steinhaus said we have power to
require developer to stake out area for Recreation Commission. Mr. Garren
requested to have all areas staked out, check list and marke.s for field trip.
Land must be left in original state, trees, shrubs, etc. must remain in
natural state.
DIRECTOR OF RECREATION
Mr. Rogers advised that the Swimming Program is dormant. There are new owners
on Travis property. Airport Park is going to be re-checked by County in 2
weeks for pollution, they are waiting for level of water to drop.

Mr. Rogers requested Commissioners to reconsider purchasing roller skates
by Town. He was requested to check with Oakwood school as they have
skating program. "
Job Applications Mr. Rogers advised that he has set up times for inter-
views and that college students sometimes get extra credits for helping in
Recreation Area during Summer recess.
TENNIS PROGRAM
,Mr. Ennesser advised that Tennis Program was "from July. 1st to August 24th
under direction of Mr. Siracusa.
Motion was made by Mr. Ennesser and seconded~b~ Mr. Garren to accept the
minutes of March 28, 1974.
Meeting adjourned at 10:30 p.m.
