1974-07-11 eL~ TOWN OF WAPPINGER RECREATION COMMISSION MINUTES OF July 11, 1974 MEETING Next'meeting August 1st. The regular meeting of the Town of Wappinger Recreation Commission was held at the Town Hall on Ju*y 11, ~974 at 7:30 p.m. Present: Messrs. Hugh J. Maurer, George Schlathaus, Richard Garren and Director of Recreation, W. Thomas Rogers. Absent: Messrs. James V. Porter, Joseph Ennesser; Mrs. A~fred Arkell and Mrs. Raymond Beahan. DUTCHESS COUNTY YOUtH HOCKEY ASSOCIATION Messrs. George Gildard and James McManus represented the Dutchess County Youth Hockey Association. They distributed literature and By-Laws describing equip~ ment worn by the boys and the nature and objectives of this club. The boys are broken in to four groups of ages 7 to 10; 11 to 12; 13 to 14; and 15 to 17. They travel to play other tea~s throughout lower New York State and Connecticut. Their objective is to develop American born boys to compete with colleges for scholar.. ship as most scholarships are picked up by Canadian born boys. An ad is placed in newspaper advertising day to sign up for league. Jhey would like to have the Recreation Commission purchase the Goalie Equipment. Mr. Maurer said the Commissioners would talk it over and discuss about putting it in Budget for 1975 which would be towards the end of August. The gentlemen thanked the Commission for listening to them and would await to hear from them. SECRETARY Mrs. Nora Flynn was intervie~ed for the Secretary's job. She was advised by the Commission that they would advise her when a decision has been m~de and thanked her for coming down. DIRECTOR OF RECREATION Mr. Rogers advised of the Learn to Swim was starting August 5th at Travis Property. Registration has been really good especially at Hughsonville. Mr. Schlathaus stated that he was very pleased with Chelsea recreation area. VANDALISH Mr. Maurer stated that recently there has been a great deal of vandalism at follm-Js: MARTZ.... Overhead doors and pass door to office and lockrsets, broken twice. Water fountains broken; vent pipe coming out of roof was loaded with sand and when toilets were flushed overflowed. ROB HJSDi~ LANE...Overhead doors broken twice; Bathroon door lock sets had to be replaced; Water fountains broken with a large object. HUGHSO~JVILLE.. Metal utility building - panels were ripped of twice with can openers, as well as hendle on front door. QUIET ACRES... Motor cycles digs ruts in fields making it very difficult to cut grass. ~rs. Bukowski is going to be contacted to see if she can open and lock area depending on recreation hours. YM~((EC: SIGf'J UP Mr. Rogers advised the date for Trip to Shea for Yankee game was A~gust 7th.
