1976-04-15 '~~ TOWN OF WAPPINGER RECREATION COMMISSION MINUTES OF APRIL 15, 1976 MEETING Next meeting - April 29, 1976 , A meeting of the Town of Wappinger Recreation Commission was held at the Town Hall on April 15, 1976. The meeting was opened at 7:50 P.M. . Present: Hugh J. Maurer, Joseph Ennesser, George Schlathaus"Mary Schmalz and Laura Zick ~ . . Absent: Richard Garren, Theresa Arkell and Jean Beahan FLEETWOOD Mr. Joe Incoranato attended the meeting to talk about the Fleetwood recreation area. Mr. Incoranato said he felt that the area near the swings was ready for a basketball court. Mr. Incoranato felt 'that having the basketball court might make the children feel thBt~tbe recreation area is theirs and therefore give them an incentive to take care of it. Mr. Maurer said someone would pace out the area to see where exactly to put the courts. Mr. Maurer explained that there might not be room for a two end court but there probably will be enough room for a one end court. WILDWOOD Mr. Maurer reported that he had looked into the area at Wildwood #1 and Mr. Alexander, the owner, would be willing to lease it for $1 a year. Bulldozing would be needed to make the area usable. The matter ,is under consideration and the Commission is looking into the cost and personnel needed to maintain the area. SUMMER HELP It was put to vote that Playground Aides receive the state minimum per hour and any aide who worked for 2 years or more receive 10~ an hour more. The vote was 4-1 in favor with Mary Schmalz voting against. It was decided that Directors would receive $3.50 per hour and any Director who worked for 2 years or more would receive $4.00 per hour. It was decided that the Summer Director would receive $1,100 for the season. TENNIS Four applications were received for tennis director. It was decided to interview the applicants on May 6, 1976 at 7:30 P.M. Mr. Ennesser suggested having the program start on June 14th and end around September 6th. Mr. Ennesser also suggested hiring two people so the courts would- be covered all the time and free instruction would be offered to anyone wishing it. Mrs. Schmalz suggested that it be enforced that'both people playing must sign the sign-up sheet. Mr. Maurer reported that Mr. Joe Walsh had volunteered to put up Page 2---Recreation Commission---4/15/76 TENjlJIS cont'd .the sign-up sheets for the time being. cd R RE 5 PO f~DE NCE The secretary was requested to send a letter tq the Town Board requesting that the fee per lot for money in lieu of land be raised from $100 to $300. ~ ~.
