WAPPINGERS CENTRAL SCHOOLS
} .~
Mr. Richard Sloat, Mr. John Hu~es and Mr. Richard Jacobsen attended
the meeting to discuss the use of school facilities with the Commission
Mr. Maurer explained that the Commission had recently been having
problems getting the use of school facilities for their programs and
the Commission wished to know of some workable arrangement could be
made~ Mr. Maurer said he felt that since the Commission's activities
are open to all residents, they should receive priority.
Mr. Jacobsen explained that the Commission is ~robably running into
the budget crunch and heavy scholastic programs.
Mr. Sloat explained that at Ketcham High and the Junior High the
physical education program runs until 3:30 P.M. and on many occassions
there has been rescheduling at Ketcham which has conflicted with the
Commission's schedule. Mr. Sloat also said that as of now there is
no policy on who gets preference and because very little is spent on
after school scheduling, problems do occur.
Mr. Maurer said the Commission understood that, but he would like to
know how the Commission could go about setting up a priority. Right
now the Commission is being squeezed out by smaller groups and
Mr. Maurer wished to know how to get the problem solved.
Mr. Hughes asked what smaller groups were involved.
Mrs. Zick explained that in the middle of the Gymnastics Program 1/2
of the gym waS given to the historical society which consisted of
eight people. The Gymnastics Program consisted of so many people that
it was a hazard to only have 1/2 of the gym.
Mr. Jacobsen said that maybe the time had come to look to some priority
arrangement. ~r~:Jacobsen said they would look at the present system
and get back to the Commission with any change in policies.
Mr. Hughes said in the future the schools and the Towns will have to
look for ways in which they can work more closely together.
Mr. Mill rer agreed and said the schools are welcome to make use of the
Commission's- existing facilities.
QUIET ACRES

g~~1e~een received especially in Quiet Acres Park. Mr, Maurer said a
