Next Meeting----December 14, 1978
The Recreation Commission of the Town of Wappinger met on December
7, 1978 at Town Hall, Mill Street, Wappingers Falls, New York.
Present: Hugh J. Maurer, Chairman, Mary Schmalz, Ron Petro, Frank
Presti.
Others Present: Janet.Reilly, Councilwoman, Representatives from
Town of Wappinger Little League
The Town of wappinger Little League Representatives were present,
at their request, and made a presentation to the Commission including
their history, present size, financial status, environment and future
hopes. Mr. Ralph Holt gave the presentation and the Commissioners
thought it was done very well. A copy of the presentation along with
minutes of the meeting submitted by Mr. Wayne Holten, President/Chairman
of their Board is on file and may be inspected upon request to the
secretary of the Recreation Commission.
CREDIT
A memo was received by Mr. Maurer from Mr. Ryan, Comptroller who was
concerned about our credit rating because of an incident of an unpaid
bill to the bus company that transported the SOccer Team to see the
Cosmos. The bill was not paid as promptly as it should have been,
and Mr. Ryan asked for an explanation. Mrs. Schmalz who was in
charge of the trip explained that she had not collected the full
amount until months later and so had not turned in the voucher for
paYment. It was agreed after discussion that henceforth, all monies
would be collected by the Town Clerk's office, and if that proved to
be a burden to the personnel in that office, a night registration
would be set up. There would be no more individual collections by
any of the Commissioners. This was a bad policy and would have to
cease.
PLANNING BOARD
A communication had been received from the Planning Board on a
proposed subdivision on All Angels Hill Road by Klein and Alexander
and they requested the Commission to pick a recreation site. Mr.

Maurer instructed the secretary to contact the Planning Board and
ask if there were future developments being contemplated in that
area that they might have adjacent areas for recreation.
ENCUMBERANCES
The COmptroller had sent a memo to the Recreation Commission
reminding them that all encumbered monies must be listed and
turned in to his office by December 21, 1978. Any services
rendered or purchases made that had not been billed as yet, must
be listed in order that they were taken out of this year's budget.
Mr. Maurer therefore set a meeting for December 14, 1978 to take
care of this matter and instructed those present to have their
"list of bills ready. Nothing could be submitted after that date:
they would be paid out of the 1979 budget.
Mrs. Reilly asked the members if the back stop was being used in
the recreation area in Fleetwood: if not, perhaps they could put
it to use in Castle Point.
There was no other business to come before the Commission.
The meeting adjourned at 10: 50 P .M. /~ ~ h . /0..
