The regular meeting of the Town of Wappinger Recreation
Commission was held December 10, 1981 at Town Hall, Mill Street,
Village of Wappingers Falls, Dutchess County, New York.
Mr. Maurer opened the meeting at 7:40 p.m.
Present: Hugh J. Maurer, Chairman, Joseph J. Ennesser, Joseph
Mastroianni, Frank Presti, Mary Schmalz and Bill Wood.
On a motion by Mr. Wood seconded by Mr. Mastroianni, the
minutes of the November 19, 1981 meeting were approved as corrected.
On page 2 undar Conferences it should read "Master Plan for the County"
instead of "Town";
DIRECTOR'S REPORT
Saturday, February 6, 1982 is the date set for the Concert
-at the Junior High. This concert will tnclude the Sweet Adelines and
the Banjo Band.
The Tree Lighting will be held on the 13th at 6100 with the
Ketcham Brass Ensemble, Sweet Adelines and Santa scheduled to be
present. It wae sugges~~d th~ children go in different age groups to
~ee Santa to eliminate confusion.
VANDALISM
Mr. Mastroianni met with Chief Brilliant and Larry Hotaling
from the Dutchess County Boy Scouts. After a discussion of the
problems, interest was expressed in developing an Explorer Unit in
Wappinger. They are planning on meeting again to discuss this further.
BEAUTIFICATION
Mr. Mastroianni made mention of Michael DeMateo from this
area who was a gardnerat N. Y. Botanical Gardens and suggested we
contact him for some of his ideas. All agreed, Mr. Mastroianni will

Mrs. Schmalz stated that December 5th was the Recognition
Date for Soccer. All went well. Certificates were given out as well
~s various prized which were donated by local businessmen.

Hr. Wood received a letter from the State denying permission
to put up a sign for the Boat Ramp. Mr. Wood will look further into
this matter.
CORR~~pONDENCE
A letter was received from the Comptroller regarding the year
end close out of the budget. All invoices should be in by December 18th.
A letter was received from Mr. & Mrs. R.J. Meyer of 12 Long
Court regarding Martz field.
A letter was received regarding the Dutchess Youth Board.
REGGIE DRIVE & SPOOK HILL
Mr. Mauner mentioned that he has met with Mr. Klein, the
Engineers and ,the Highway D~partment on the above.
A letter was received from Richard Barger outlining estimated
costs for improvements to the park, and a discussion followed. A copy
~f this letter is attached for the records.
