1982-07-08 .~ '" TOWN OF WAPPINGER RECREATION COMMISSION MINUTES, JULY 8, 1982 Next Meetina Auaust 19. 1982 The regular meeting of the Town of Wappinger Recreation Commission was held July 8, 1982 at Town Hall, Mill Street, Village of Wappingers Falls, Dutchess County, New York. The meeting was called to order at 1:52 p.m. by Mr. Maurer, Chairman. .. PRESENT: Hugh J. Maurer, Chairman, Joseph Mastroianni, Ronald Petro, Mary Schmalz, Bill Wood and Town Board Member Nicholas Johnson. On a motion by Mr. Mastroianni seconded by Mr. Petro the minutes of the June 10, 1982 meeting were approved with the addition of ltand girls.. under soccer last sentence, page 2. Mrs. Schmalz objected to the minutes, the section under "Minutes of the May 6th meeting" where it read ltto accept the minutes as originally written." SENIOR CITIZENS ~ 'Mr. Mastroianni received a letter from Mrs. Fratus expressing their gratitude for furnishing the bus for their trip to Memory town, Mt. Pocono, Pennsylvania on June 16th. Mr. Mastroianni also reported that nothing was mentioned in the yearly report about Senior Citizens. The secretary was asked to mention this to Mr. Ennesser. He thought the report was very informative. , TENNIS Mr. Petro mentioned that the 2nd Sessions of Tennis have started and that enrollments are up. The courts have been re-surfacedbut Mr. Petro read a petition from the residents stating that the courts were dangerous and slippery with the black coming off on the balls, sneakers and clothing. It was suggested that a letter be written to the Town Board to get permission to have the surface coat put on. LITTLE LEAGUE Mr. Wood mentioned that the field maintenance is going well and we should be within our budget. A-l Fencing will be coming next week to do the fencing around the Girls Softball Field. Mr. Petro asked if the Tennis Court fence could be fixed at the same time. ~ Minutes, July 8, 1982 Page 2 CHELSEA BOAT RAMP Mr. Hood received a letter on June 18th from Hans Gunderud requesting additional information regarding our request for "No Parking" signs on the East side of Front Street from the ramp to the intersection of Bank Street. The secretary will forward this information to Mr. Gunderud. A letter was received from Mr. Lapar regarding his concerns with the purposed concrete slab at the boat dock. After a discussion, Mr. Johnson suggested a study on what we need. Mr. Maurer will speak with Mr. Lapar and will also speak with Michael Schwall about the charging of fees for parking. . QUIET ACRES Members of Quiet Acres Homeowners Association came regarding the Playfield on Helen Drive. Those attending were Mrs. Ellen Korz, Spokes- woman, Mr. Martin Crawford, Mr. & Mrs. Stephen Tacopina, Mrs. Pampalone, Mrs. Bowe, and Mrs. McDonald. Some of their requests were: To have the Town Patrol check more frequently and try and alleviate vandalism. Mr. Johnson said he would look into this as this is a public safety concern. Have a gate put up at the top of the hill to discourage the older kids from going down in the park after hours and have the brush cleaned up around the entrance so you can see it. At the satallite playfield the kids don't have a table to do their crafts on and the children were, discouraged with . trying to color on the grass. Possibly get us more supplies. They were willing to store the supplies at someone's homeo It was felt that if there was something more to do maybe more kids would utilize it. Possibly try an all-day playfie1= next year. RANGER RICK 1. 2. 3. Mrs. Schmalz asked if the Ranger Rick program could be re-instated. No one saw any reason it shouldn't be since most playgrounds enjoyed it last year. Mr. Petro made a motion that if we have the money and a person to do the program that it be re-instated. All were in favor. Mrs. Schmalz will get with Mr. Ennesser about this. SUMMER BASEBALL CAMP Mr. Maurer received a request from Little League to run a summer camp at Robinson Lane in August for Wappingers Little Leegue Members. There would be a charge and the money would go to Little League. All were in favor to give permission. Mr. Wood will inform Mr. Holt. . .. Minutes, July a, 1982 Page 3 ALARMS Mrs. Schmalz met with 3 different people about alarms to be put at the Martz and Robinson buildings. 1. Sound on Wheels, 2 Red Oaks Mills, 3. Norman W. Kebsch Security. She will have estimates by the next meeting. YOUTH BOARD Mrs. Schmalz met with the Youth Board and mentioned that the workers compensation and insurance forms are in and the contracts are signed for funding for this year. We should be getting $16,000. .. SPOOK HILL Mrs. Schmalz asked what was being done at Spook Hill. No one knew what the hold up was and Mr. Maurer said he would speak with Mr. Kline regarding this. UfW. Mr. Presti was absent but sent in a list of specs for the refurbishment of the barn (see attached). After a discussion and a few changes, Mr. Wood made a motion to go to bid and proceed. All were in favor. BUDGET Mr. Johnson made mention that monies may not be taken from one line item to another. If a problem arises, a letter should be written to the Town Board for approval of a transfer. CONCERT Next concert ~. Charlie Hoyt Band on July 24th. Meeting adjourned at 9150 p.m. (J~~~) ~~ Peggy ~~ Secretary f P SPECIFICATIONS FOR RECREATION BARN ) Contractors should bid on parcels I, II, III, and IV as separate entities. If desireable, they may also quote on all four if there is economy to the town if they do. PARCEL I New roof on Barn @ Montfort Road. This is to include removal of the old roof and installation of new which should be 5/8" C-D Ply with 235 IF Seal Down Shingles with 15# Felt underneath. PARCEL II '. Replace up to 400 sq. ft. worn sub-flooring and lay on top 3/4" Tongue and Groove AD Ply. sanded finish. Also move stairwell from present position to rear end of barn. PARCEL III Replace all broKen windows, 210ft doors and 5 entry doors, and Quick Set locks on the exterior of the barn. PARCEL IV Re-wire electrical service to Barn (200 Amp.) Note: Town of Wappinger reserves the right to accept or reject any and all-bids. Work to be accomplished by the Fall of 1982. Call for appointment/survey of the barn either Hugh J.
