The regular meeting of the Town of wappinger Recreation
Commission was held October 7, 1982 at Town Hall, Mill Street, Village
of Wappingers Falls, Dutchess County, New York.
The meeting was called to order by Hugh J. Maurer, Chairman
at 7:40 with the following persons present: Joseph Ennesser, Ronald
Petro, Frank Presti, Joseph Mastroianni and Mary Schmalz.
On a motion by Mr. Petro seconded by Mr. Presti the minutes
of the August 14, 1982 meeting were unanimously approved.
DIRECTOR'S. REPORT
Mr. Ennesset reported he is working on the winter programs
and hopes to get them started soon.
The Schlathaus Memorial Race held October 2,1982 saw 53
adults and 18 youngsters competing.
Everyone ~~s re~inded about the Horse Show to be held at
Robinson Lane at 9:00 Saturday, October 9th. Mr. Ennesser was very
pleased with the advartising coverage especially in the schools and on
radio.
Mr. Ennesser stated that four 8 foot tables have been ordered
and a new P. A. System has been purchased.
SENIOR CITIZENS
Mr. Mastroianni mentioned that 2 Senior Citizens trips are
scheduled. On October 15th members of the New Hackensack Group are
going to Albany and on October 19th members of the Zion Church Group
are going to New Preston, Conn.
Mr. Mastroianni has asked to meet with the Office of the
Aging and is waiting for a date to be set.
JENNIS
Mr. Petro gave a report on the tennis participants. The
singles tournament in August had about 40 participants and doubles
in September had 50 participants. He mentioned that the courts look
good after re-surfacing.

SOCCER
Soccer has started and this year Mrs. Schmalz is attempting
to set up school teams. So far she has 20 schools represented. She is
working with the P.T.A. and Phys. Ed. teachers and has had a lot of
cooperation.
There are no "senior teams" because these youngsters are
included on the school teams.
ALARM SYSTEMS
Mrs. Schmalz talked with Radio Shack and is waiting for a
reply.
KENT ROAD POND AREA
A group of ladies concerned with the above area will be
attending a meeting.

FLAG POLE
The Company has_our pole ready and wants to deliver it.
Maurer received som~'pric~~ on the foundation and is still loo~ing
the matter.

CHRISTMAS TREE LIGHTING
The Tree Lighting ceremony will be December 5th at 6:15 p.m.
at Schlathaus Park. Mr. Wood will be Santa again this year.
HILL - N- DALE Sub-DIVISION
Received a map of the above sub-division for our comments
from the Planning Board. After reviewing it, the members were happy
except they thought another access road should be made to the south
side of lots 87-74-73 off Cedar Hill. A letter to the Planning Board
so stating will be sent by the secretary.
HEFFERNAN SUB-DIVISION
After reviewing the map of the above sub-division, it was
requested that a letter be written to the Planning Board asking how
many acres we will be receiving and if there will be any restrictions
ex. Town Recreation or Associationo

It was requested that a letter be written to Mr. Lapar
with the pertinent file data for him to review and confirm Mr. Kleins
recommendations.
