Town of Wappinger - Recreation Commission
Minutes - November 18, 1982
The regular meeting of the Town of Wappinger Recreation
Co~mission was held November 18, 1982 at Town Hall, Mill Street,
Village of Wappingers falls, Dutchess County, New York.
The meeting was called to order at 7:40 by Chairman Hugh J.
Maurer. The following persons were present: Joseph Ennesser, Frank
Presti, Joseph Mastrioanni, Mary Schmalz and Bill Wood.

On a motion by Mr. Presti seconded by Mr. Wood the minutes
of the October 7, 1982 meeting were unanimously approved.
Mr. Ken Russ from Site Planners, Inc. was present to discuss
the Fieldstone Farms Subdivision. He requested that a list of improve-
ments be made and sent to him for estimates so that the recreation area
work could be started when the weather was favorable.
After Mr. Russ left, the following list of improvements were
formulated and a letter was to be sent to him.
1. Water and curb cock - Mimimum of 200 ft. of water line
and 2 fountains.
2. Electricity - 100 ft. underground with secure box
termination.
3. Blacktop basketball court - 50 x 80.
4. Handball court - 20 x 40 with wall 8 ft. long with
2 side walls 3 ft. long.
5. Walk Paths and bridge over swale. ,
6. Boccie Court.
7. Platform Tennis.
Mr. Ron Petro arrived at 8:45.
DIRECTORS REPORT
The winter programs are go~ng great. Aerobics is over-
flowing. .Adult volleyball is on Monday with about 28 attending.
Women's exercise is on Wednesday with 18 signed up. Men's basket'ball
is on Wednesday with 46 attending. The Rockingham basketball isn't
going well yet since there is no one to take over.
TREE LIGHTING CEREMONY
Sunday, December 5th is the scheduled date for the ceremony
at Schlathaus Park. Mr. Ennesser is working on the program. DecorationS
will be put up after Thanksgiving.

SENIOR CITIZENS
Mr. Mastrioanni mentio~ed that the two senior citizen
trips went well. Thank you notes were received from Mr. & Mrs. Daniel
Calabrese of the New Hackensack Senior Citizens and Rebecca Greco of
the Young Old Timers of Zion Church. The Zion Group went to the Inn
on Lake Waramaug in New Preston, Conn. and the other group went to
Alb any.

Mr. Presti mentioned he had spoken to Mr. Adams regarding
the bids for the barn. It was suggested we re-issue the bids with
new dates. It was decided to work on this in January and advertise
in February.
DUGOUTS
Mr. Wood mentioned that a letter was received from Mr. Holt
stating that the dugouts are completed and hopefully painted. If not
they will paint them in early spring.
FENCING
The fence was installed incorrectly because the bat wings
are too close to the baseline and the centerfield fence was incorrectly
set at -168 ft. instead of the regulation 200 ft. Mr. Maurer and Mr.
Wood are to check on this.
HORSE SHOW
The show went well this year but it was suggested that the
English and Western be done in one day and in one ring. It was also
suggested that certain classes be omitted.
ALARM SYSTEM
Mrs. Schmalz received a bid from Avant Guard of $1,197. for
each field and mentioned she would still try and get an estimate from
Arlington. After a discussion it was decided Mrs. Schmalz should check
on the ~1,480. estimate received from Armor Detectiono

YOUTH EOARll
Mrs. Schmalz mentioned that we were getting $18,000. from
the Youth Eoard instead of ~16,000.
SOCCER
Mrs. Schmalz mentioned that the outdoor soccer program is
ending on November 20th.

KLEIN
All members were in favor of writing a letter to James
Klein stating that enough work had been completed on Fieldstone Farms
Subdivision I to have the ~15,000. applied to the second section.
On a motion by Mr. Wood seconded by Mr. Mastrioanni the
meeting was adjourned at 10:20.
