wa. hel. September 8, 1~8J at Tawn Hall, Mill Street, Village of Wappingers
Falls, County af Dutchess, New York.
The meeting wa. call.. t. er..r at 7.10 P.M. by Hugh J. Maurer,
Chairman with a .iscussien en the expansion of the Rabinson Lane
Facilities an. Ad.ition af the Han.icappe. Rest Roams.
Tha.e present were. Hugh J. Maurer, William WaDd, Mary Schmalz,
Joseph Mastroianni, Ronald Petra, Tawn Board Members Nicholas Johnson,
Gerald McCluskey, Bernice Mills, Frank Versace and Little League
Representative Ralph Holt.
Mr. Johnson mentioned that 114,400. has been received to spend on
the rest room facilities for the handicapped at Robinson Lane. He
also reviewe. the plan for expansion at that site. Mr. Versace said
that the monies must be used for the rest room facilities at Robinson
Lane this year or we will l..se this grant.
After questions were anaw.red on how this project had came about,
why Robinson Lane Area was gatting the grant an. questiona regarding
payment etc. for the expansion, Mr. Woo. made the foll.wing motionl
"That the Commission approve the following.
1. the additional masenry structure with lavitories far the
handicapped.
2. an additional masonry structure t. be erected ta the south
of the existing "store" 20 x 20 to enlarge the store and
provide storage space.
3. an additional cavered area ta the south with blacktap floor
and roof to be approximately 50 x 20 instead of 25 x 20 as
previously written in a proposal.
4. that we discuss further the proposed "screened-in" area for
the handicapped."
Mr. Petro seconded this motion with the approval of Mr. Mastrioanni.
Mrs. Schmalz was opposed to everything except the handicapped rest rooms.
She also thought these rest rooms sheuld be put in at Martz and at
Schlathaus. Mrs. Schmalz wanted it noted that she felt that the Tawn
has concentrated tao much at Robins.n Lane.
This part af the meeting .djeurned at 8100 p.m.
Joseph Ennesser and Rene Russ were present far the rest af the
meeting.

Mr. Woad ma.e a matien to aecept the July 14, 19B3 minutes with the
fallowing correction. All were in favor. On Page 1, next to the
last paragraph, it shauld be added that "Mrs. Schmalz was against the
expansion of the facilitiea at Robinson Lane but approved of the
handicapped rest rae.s."
SW'LE AT ROBINSON LANE
Mr. Wood made a matian that a letter be aent to the Planning Board
that the swale was campleted if Mr. LaPar ia satisfied with the grades.
All were in favor with the exception of Mrs. Schmalz. She made nate
that she agreed with the swale but felt that it should not be a require-,
ment of the Recreation Commission but that it should be a requirement
of the Planning Board as a water ea.ement.
DIRECTOR'S REPORT
Mr. Ennesser mentioned the fallowingl
1. The Silk n Soun.s concert was fairly well attended.
2. The contracts fer the acheDls are in but he is having
problems getting the use of Jehn Jay far sur winter
programs. Mr. Maurer suggested that a letter be
written to the principal with capie. to Mr. Sturgis and
Mr. Slo.t questioning this prablem. All agreed.
3. Traphiea are in for the October 1st Schlathaus Memorial Race.
4. We should put in the budget portable foot lights far
Schlatheus.
5. Mrs. Connie Smith requested the use of our P.A. Sy.tem~'far
Community Day.
6. He was thinking of scheduling another concert far October 8th
but felt that it might be too early to have an ind.or cancert.
After a diecussian the commission members were in favor of
canceling the October Concert and maybe halding one later.
SUMMER DIRECTOR
Mrs. Russ mentionsd the fmllewing regarding the Summer Playgroundsl
1. 250 peeple (5 bus laada) attended the Bronx Zoo.
2. Roller Skating trips were enjoyed and went well.
3. Final Field Day was held at Sawdein Park.
4. There was vandalism at Martz and ta the truck body at Quiet
Acres. The Martz problem was followed up quickly.
5. A request came fram the Martz Playground Director for a small
van for next y.ar aa they could have inter-playground conpetition.
Mrs. Sch.alz snawed us pictures that were taken on varioue Play-
gound trips.

LITTLE LEAGUE
Mr. Wood menti.nedthat there were 42 play.ff games at Rabinsan
Lane from July 9th to August 1st and there were many nice compliments
on the fields. He requested 10 gallans .f paint sa the dugouts could
be finiah.d as SDon as possible.
CONfERENCES
Mrs. Schmalz handed out informational material regarding the New
York State Recreation and Park Society 184 State Canference t. be held
March 25 - 28, 1984 at "The Pines."
Mrs. Schmalz mentioned that the National Parks and Recreation
Commission is holding their meeting next month in kansas City. A
request was made that a letter be written te the Tawn Beard requesting
permission far Mrs. Schmalz to attend this meeting.
SOCCER
Mrs. Schmalz menti.ned that she had 8 teams in the 19 and aver
league. She received many compliments an the league and the fact that
the campetitian was better than other leagues.
SANTA SUIT
It was requested that Mrs. Schmalz loek into erdering a Santa Suit
instead of renting ane each year.
SENIOR~CITIZENS
Mr. Mastroianni received a letter from Rebecca Greco D~rectQr af
the Yaung Old Timers expressing their appreciation fDr making possible
their Spring Trip to Shawnee Inn.
He also received a letter from the Dutchess County Association for
Senior Citizens thanking the Commission far making it possible far the
drop-in center to operate the one additional hour each week.
The next Senior Citizen trip ia scheduled for October 13th when
they are planning to go to Essex Cann.
TENNIS
Mr. Petra mentione~ that the Tennis Tournaments held in August
went fairly well but that there seemed t. ba problems with people on
vacations. He mentioned that with the gaod weather the lights weee
still on but he would turn them off October 1st. A tennis tourna.ant
report is attached.

HORSE SHOW
Mr. Maurer mentioned that he is in the process of setting 8 data
in October for the Horse Show.
KENDALL FARMS SUBDIVISION
After reviewing the subdivision map, it was agreed that a letter
be written to the Planning Board stating that the Commission would
like to meet with the engineer and have a field trip.

Mrs. Janice Scholz, resident of Quiet Acres, attended and stated
that she and a group of other residents had been to the barn and that
they hoped that it could be rsfurbiahed.
Three bids were rsceived taday for the barn which will be for-
warded to Mr. Presti so that he may then came back with some recommenda-
tions.
Budget meeting is scheduled far September 15, 1983.
Meeting was adjourned on 8 motion by Mr. Petro seconded by Mr.
Wcuod at 9135.
