TOWN OF WAPPINGER - RECREATION COMMISSION MINUTES - JANUARY 12, 1984 Next Meeting February 16, 1984 The regular meeting of the Town of Wappinger Recreation Commission was held January 16, 1984 at Town Hall, Mill Street, Village of Wappingers Falls, County of Dutchess, New York. The meeting was called to order at 7:40 by Chairman Hugh J. Maurer with the following persons present: Robert Blose, Director, Commission Members Joseph Mastroianni, Mary Schmalz and William Wood. The minutes of the November 30, 1983 meeting were approved on a motion by Mr. Wood seconded by Mr. Mastroianni. All were in favor. SENIOR CITIZENS Mr. Mastroianni mentioned that after due research regarding the $160.32 we supposedly donated to the Senior Citizens so that they could continue operating their Wappingers Falls center, we found out the money did not come from the Town but the Village. CHRISTMAS TREE PROGRAM Mr. Maurer suggested that planning for the Christmas Tree Program, which should include improvements to the program, should start in September. RESPONSIBILITIES OF MEMBERS Mr. Maurer went over the list of responsibilities of the Commission Members. They are as follows: Mr. Wood - Little League and Boating Mr. Mastroianni - Senior Citizens and Planning Board Mrs. Schmalz - Soccer, Youth Board, and Playgrounds Mr. Petro - Tennis Mr. Presti - Schlathaus Park and Engineering Mr. Presti and Mrs. Schmalz - Barn DIRECTOR'S REPORT Mr. Blose reported that two programs started Saturday, January 7th at Junior High. They were Girls and Boys Gymnastics with Brenda Peura and Girls and Boys Basketball with Len Reed. Other programs that are in progress are: Aerobics Exercise Program Volleyball Open Basketball .. ," '" ,. MINUTES JANUARY 12, 1984 PAGE 2 Mr. Blose mentioned he will contact Myers concerning the soccer program. His intent is to have the program held there. Mrs. Schmalz mentioned that the Spring Soccer program might be discontinued because of lack of fields. The Adult soccer program, which is currently being held at the Jr. High, might have to be moved to Ketcham Sunday Nights. If that is not approved, then it will be held on those Monday nights that the school is available. SPOOK HILL - FIELDSTONE A letter which was received from John E. Railing regarding the above stated that they could not find any requirements in the Towns approvals requiring markers or monuments. After a discussion, it was suggested that a letter be written to Mr. Victor Fanue1e, Chairman of the Planning Board stating that it was our under- standing monuments were required and asking what the present requirments are. WILLOWBROOK DRAINAGE SWALE A letter and two prints of the profile of the existing and proposed drainage swa1e were received from Barger's Office. After reviewing the proposals, the Commission voted 3 to 1 in favor. Mrs. Schmalz opposed. Mr. Presti arrived at 9:20 P.M. LUV LUCK SUBDIVISION After reviewing the above Sub-division, the Commission members voted to take money in lieu of land. WATERSEDGE I & II SUB- DIVISION RIVERWOOD ESTATES - SECTION 1 After reviewing the above Sub-Division Maps, it was recommended that we find out who owns the property and how they relate to each other before making any further recommendations. CONFERENCES The Commission Members asked what the status was regarding our members attending conferences. Supervisor Versace came in and was asked to clarify this policy. He said that no one could attend conferences unless mandatory. BARN Mr. Presti said he would like to speak with Mr. Versace and the Town Board regarding their feelings on the Barn before he prepares any further plans.
