TOWN OF WAPPINGER
RECREATION COMMISSION MINUTES
MAY 3, 1984
The Regular Meeting of the Town of Wappinger Recreation Commission was
held on May~3 1984 at Town Hall, Mill Street, Village of Wappingers Falls,
Dutchess Coun y, New York.
Mr. Maurer opened the informal meeting at 7:40 p.m.
Present: Hugh J. Maurer, Chairman, Robert Blose, Director, and
Commission members Mary Schmalz and Bill Wood.
Since there was not a quorum present the minutes of the April 5th
meeting were tabled until the next meeting.
Mr. Maurer mentioned the following:
1. Martz Field - There is trouble keeping the area cleaned up.
2. The Trees which were ordered from Dutchess County Conservation
are in and Mr. Blose will distribute them on May 19th at Martz Field from
9 - 12.
3. Mr. Maurer mentioned that we need some barrels at Rockingham. Mr.
Wood said he would contact Little League Officials and see if they could get
them from Fairchild for us.
4. Mrs. Maier of Long Court has called several times regarding the
fencing along the easement to her property.
5. Mr. Maurer has spoken with Mr. Worthmann about changing the locks
and Mr. Worthmann would like to waid until after they have all the work done at
the store.
6. Mr. Maurer requested that a porta-john be delivered as soon as
possible to the Castle Point Recreation Field. The secretary will call on
this.
CHELSEA BOAT RAMP
Mr. Maurer ~entioned that Mrs. Paino had given him an application from the
Heritage Task Force f~r the Hudson River Valley, Inc. announcing its Third Annual
Community Projects Grants Program. She suggested that the application be submitted
for the maximum amount of $1,000. to help repair and resurface the Boat Ramp.

A letter was received from New Hackensack Fire Company as follows:

Dear Mr. Maurer:
On June 8, 9, 10, 1984 the New Hackensack Fire Company will be holding their
sixth Annual Bavarian Festival, on the Fire Company Grounds on Myers Corners
Road. Once again, we would like to request the use of the Town Property on
Myers Corners Road and All Angels Hill Road for parking during this event.
We will be fully insured and will take care of any damage that may occur and
also clean up the property at the conclusion of the weekend event.
Thank you for your consideration and we hope to see you at the Fest this year.

BAVARIAN FESTIVAL '84
It was voted all in favor to write a letter to the Fire Company giving approval
for the use of the property on those dates.
DUTCHESS COUNTY PLANNING FEDERATION
Mrs. Schmalz mentioned that the Seventh Annual Short Course on Planning
and Zoning will be Saturday, May 5th with a first hand look at some of the unique
aspects of the Hudson Valley. At 3:00 they will leave Cold Spring by bus followed
by wine and cheese and a tour of the Chelsea Area and then Wappingers Falls with
Mary Lou Lutters, Scenic Hudson, Inc. Topics under Chelsea Area are oil storage
across the river, power plants, limited access because of railroads, power line
crossings and sump storage facility. The topics under Wappingers Falls are village
center, old industrial area, new streets and sidewalks, NYS Department of Transporta-
tion projects.
Meeting was adjourned at 9:00 p.m.
