NEXT MEETING SEPTEMBER 11. 1986 at 7:30 P.M.
The August 6, 1986 meeting of the Town of Wappinger Recreation Commission
was held at Town Hall, 20 Middlebush Road, Town of Wappinger, Dutchess County,
New York.
The meeting was called to order at 7:45 with the following persons present:
Ralph Holt, Chairman, and Commission Members Nancy Drennan, Ellen Korz and Joseph
Mastroianni. Herb Stoller arrived at 8:00.
The minutes of the July 10, 1986 meeting were approved on a motion by
Mr. Mastroianni seconded by Mrs. Korz.
Amy Slacin, Summer Playground Director was present to answer questions and
give a report on the program. She mentioned everything was going smoothly although
she mentioned a few suggestions.
1. Attendance at Quiet Acres is very low. Next year something must be
done regarding supplies etc.-hopefully a building.
2. There are a couple of dead trees by the building at Martz Field and
the Directors are afraid some branches will fall on the children. Mr. Holt will
look into getting them taken down.
3. The porta-john at Spook Hill is being tipped over all the time. It has
been smashed and repaired several times. We need some type of bathroom facilities
added to the present building.
4. It was suggested that some type of shelter be built at Spook Hill and
possibly Quiet Acres.
5. It was suggested that advertizing be started much earlier next yea~.
6. Mr. Stoller suggested the possibility of purchasing a portable pool for
one of the sites. It would be put up inthe Spring and taken down after the program.
Miss Slacin was asked to write a brief summary of the playgrounds regarding
their programs, directors and aides.
SWIM STUDY
Mrs. Drennan had handed out a report at the budget meeting on swim possibilities.
This will be discussed further in September.

QUIET ACRES
Mrs. Korz will be sending around a flier to the Quiet Acres residents for
input on a building to be placed at the top of the hill for storage and possible
bathroom facilities. She also mentioned that the backstop needs to be repaired.
A suggestion was made to use this field as a possible soccer field.
CHRISTMAS TREE LIGHTING
Mr. Holt mentioned that plans need to be formulated soon for the Christmas
Program. He also mentioned that if we are going to go ahead with the skating at
Sch1athaus we have to order the supplies soon.
The meeting had to be closed early because the Custodian was leaving and
had to lock up the building.
The meeting was adjourned at 8:45 on a motion by Mrs. Korz seconded by
Mr. Stoller.
