The meeting was called to order by Ralph J. Holt at 8:32 with the following persons present: Ralph J. Holt, Chairman, Bernie Reimer, Director, Commission Members Nancy Drennan, Ellen Korz, Joseph Mastroianni, Bill Wood and Maintenance Supervisor John Vorndran. Prior to the regular meeting the following people were present to review the work accomplished at the barn and to go over the lot re-alignment: Supervisor Irene Paino, Town Board Members David Reis, Connie Smith, Vincent Farina and Robert Valdati, Engineer to the Town Joseph Paggi, Attorney to the Town Thomas Wood, Town Zoning Administrator Herb Levenson and Town Planner Ray Arnold. After making their inspection all felt it was worthwhile to purse the lot re- a 1 i gnm€"-2nt .. On a motion by Mr. Wood seconded by Mr. Mastroianni, the minutes were approved as revised by secretary prior to the me~=~t i ng . A letter has been received from Robert Gift, Chief of Department of Interior regarding our annual report on the progress at Castle Point Recreation Area. Mr. Holt mentioned that nothing much has been accomplished except the removal of the metal and that we mow and clean up the area. He read a draft of a letter which will be given to Supervisor Paino and Councilman Reis for approval prior to sending. Each playground was doing a lot more this year. The biggest problem was the break in at Spook Hill. The garage door was damaged and will have to be replaced along with shingles torn off the roof. Playground supplies were thrown around in the building and a few taken. Page 1 It was suggested that a letter to the Editor be written mentioning that we need every residents' help in keeping these areas as a pleasant place for recreation activities and to watch for vandalism. Mr. Reimer mentioned that Summer Playground Director Amy Slacin has a schedule of activities made up for the End of Summer picnic and that we have recruited plenty of volunteers to help out. The dunking tank has been rented. The Directors are making out certificates of appreciation for the children. Mr. Reimer is seeing about getting a gift of appreciatin for each of the Summer Playground Employees. f:i~J~.H]g G 1..LE~s tJEi Mr. Mastroianni reported that a trip has been planned to the Poconos for October. bfj~lg~NGf~ g~!!~H~IY..uH.PN = fj~~b fjNG~1~e tilb~~ f.~Pt~R Mr. Wood met with John Lawrence and Engineer of the Town Joseph Paggi at the above subdivision to discuss the area for Recreation pouposes. They found out that the land in the back of the subdivision was in the 10 year flood plain and the land adjacent to it was too rocky. It was suggested we get land for at least 2 soccer fields or baseball fields. It was decided that a letter be written to the Planning Board stating that we are asking for land. Ray Arnold the Part Time Town Planner also suggested we take land at this site and also at the Nicole Subdivision RQ~HNf:i.QN ~.;:fjr~~ Mr. Holt mentioned that he received no cooperation from John Dore of the Sunday Morning Softball League the weekend of the Dutchess Debs Tournament and Little League Playoffs. Because of the rain 2 fields were under water and when Mr. Dore was asked if he would move to Rockingham he wouldn't. The water line at SL 2 has been redone with copper pipe. We are hoping to do Rl. We are trying to do a section at a time. I Rf2G.IQfJ Mr. Vorndran mentioned that the new tractor is in and they are now using all three mowers. Mr.Weston is now able to do some mowing. The old tractor will be going out for repair tomorrow - the clutch is going. Paqe 2 C~e!B~B~~~ BgEQBI Mr. Holt mentioned the following: 1. We are hoping to pave in front of the stage in the fall. 2. The bathroom should be installed in the barn soon. 3. The Engineer to the Town will set out the footage on the property line at the Barn and the Atorney to the Town will draft a letter to Mr. Fulton. 4. There has been talk that Deer Hill might not be available for swimming next year. We will have to think about what we will do next year. 5" The attendance at Chelsea was down this year b\.jt Jinl Francese has done a good job and we haven't heard any complaints. b. If anyone has any ideas on what to do with the Pond at Kent Road please let Mr Holt know. 7. The budget for 1989 has been tentively been written up. Everyone is asked to look it over and call any changes in to the Secretary. 8. It was also discussed the possibility of decreasing the number of directors at Martz Field to one at Martz Field for next year. There was a feeling that Martz was running their own program and that they didn't belong to the whole program. 9. Mr. Vorndran will start grading by the creek soon. 10. Mr. Wood will be sitting in for Mr.Holt while he is on vacation. Mr. Holt is scheduled to return September 7th. BC~bBI~eYB EeBt Mr.Wood asked if Mr. Holt was able to get a pole for another light at Schlathaus. Mr. Holt said he met with Central Hudson and was quoted a price of $1,350 to do it. Mr. Wood said he will check with someone about it also. Mr. Wood mentioned that we need to purchase 2 more flags I for Robinson Lane and I for Schlathaus.
