The regular meeting o'f the Town o'f Wappinger Recreation
Commissic.n was held December 14, 1989 at Brexel-Schlathaus
Park, All Angels Hill Road, Town of Wappinger, Dutchess
County,New YOrk.
The meeting was opened at 7:30 p.m. with the follc.wing
persons present: Ralph J. Holt, Chairman, Bernie Reimer,
Directc.r, Commissic.n Members Ellen Korz, Joseph t"lastroianni,
Hugh J. Maurer, Bill Wood, and Maintenance Director John
Vorndran. Donald Hider arrived at 7:50 p.m.
The minutes of the November 16, 1989 meeting were
apprc.ved on a motic.n by Mr. Wood, seconded by Mrs. Korz with
all in favor. Upon his arrival Mr. Rider wanted it noted
that it was a trailer bc.dy to be placed at Rockingham not
just a truck body.
DIRECTOR"S REPORT
Mr. Reimer reported that the Jr. High renovatic.ns are
still not complete and now it is hoped that after the
Christmas Holiday the programs will start. I'f we are unable
to start at that time it will also affect the Childrens

when the programs start we can get an additional night for
the evpninq programs.
SENIOR CITIZENS
Mr. Mastroianni mentioned that the Senior Trip in
December to New Jersey went off well and everyone enjoyed

The 'fc.llowing items were noted:
1. Arrangements have been made with the Highway
Department to plow the driveway at Schlathaus.
2. It was suggested that sensor lights be placed at
Schlathaus and the Barn in case there are any problems with
the heatIng system etc.

4.. The posts have been completed on the Tennis Courts..
Mr. Vorndran found that the old ones were only put in 1
'foot. It was suggested that signs be obtained to request
players to loosen the nets a'fter play thereby reducing the
constant stress on the posts.
5. Reese Park is now closed. Mr. Vorndran noted that
someone has placed a big rock at the entrance..
6.. With all the problems we have had in getting P.o."s
we notpd that we are losing $6,600. in addition to monies the
Town Board took for gymnastics, engineering 'fees etc.. It was
also noted that the 5700. gifts received for the Summer
Picnic was never credited to the Recreation Accounts.

8. Mrs.. Korz asked if we had been able to find out who
purchased the Castle. The sec:retary will check on this for
the next meeting.

and Sterling and they were concerned with the Pond at Kent
Road and All Angels Hill. They wanted to know the size and

CHELSEA HEIGHTS SUBDIVISION
Mr.. Holt met with the Planning Board and developers of
the above subdivision to discuss the Recreation takings. It
is hoped that we can get work done at Castle Point (our
adjoining property) in lieu of land or money.. We were

and present it to the Planning Board by January 11th. It WBs

problems and how they impact the Town's property.
Mr. Holt will discuss these items with Mr. Dan Randall

This subdivision was again discussed and it was decided
that this was not prime land and that we should take money.

After reviewing the bubdivision Plat it was decided that
we meet with the developer to discuss gaining property for
recreation. We are in need of property in that area and
would like to discuss this with him.

Both Mr. Reimer and Mr. Holt mentioned that they felt
the Christmas Party went well even though it was 50 cold.
Mr. Holt thanked Mr. Reimer, Mr5. Korz and Mrs. Roe for all
their help. Mr. Holt mentioned that he had attended the
Village Tree Lighting and that it went well although they did

the merchants more involved and possibly come up with some
different ideas i.e. elves, Mickey MousE' etc. Hopefully Mrs.
Drennan will assume this leadership role for 1990. Mr.
Vorndran mentioned that Mr. bmith of the MaintE'nance Staff

Mr. Rider mentioned that the portajohn was still at
Rockingham. The secretary will call on this to have it
removed.
