The regular meeting of the Town of Wappinger Recreation
Commission was held May 10, 1990 at Schlathaus Park, All
Angels Hill Road, Town c,f Wappinger, Dutchess County, New
York.
The meeting was called to order at 7:35 with the
following persons present: Chairman Ralph J. Holt, Director
Bernie Reimer, Commission Members Ellen I<c'j-Z, Hugh J. Maurer,
Stephen Mi ller, Donald Rider and Maintenance Supervisor Jc,hn
Vorndran.
The minutes of the April 12, 1990 meeting were approved
on a motion by Mr. Rider seconded by Mr. Miller with all in
favor.
A representative from the Wappingers Men~s Softball
League attended and questioned the availability of softball
fields. They noted that Castle Point field has been given to
the Southern Dutchess Women~s League but to date they haven~t
used it. If they are not intending to use the field the
Men~s Softball league would. He also mentioned that the
league noticed that soccer is not using the fields at
Rockingham after b on Tuesday and Thursday and if that is the
case would it be possible fm- them to use these fields. Mr.
Reimer will check on the status of the Women~s League and Mr.
Ridel- wi 11 check wi th the soccer people abc,ut the Tuesday and
Thursday use. Another possibility of obtaining fields for
the Men~s League would be to move the Women to Quiet Acres
once the field has been rolled and fixed. The men feel that
the field is too short with the basketball court there but
maybe it wouldn~t be for the women. We will get back with
the Men~s league once everyone has been cClntacted and
arrangements made.

lining of the fields and Ml-. Holt told him that Ethan Meybe.hn

We still have a drainage problem which hopefully will he
fixed when they start the new subdivision adjacent to our
propel ty.
Work was delayed for a while because we didn~t go out to
bid and several people in the Town felt we should. We have
just received the go ahead to continue with our plans.
The fireplaces have been installed. Pictures will be
taken and copies of the vouchers made and both will be sent
to Heritage to procure the monies received in the 1989 grant.
It was suggested that walk a through gate be installed
to obtain access to the playground area.

The end of the meeting was devoted to l-eviewing the
outlines submitted by the Commission Members. It was
suggested that with the amount of information received that
we write a letter to the Supervisor requesting an extension
to August 1st. June 1st does not seem like a realistic date
to compile all the material.
