SENIOR CITIZEN REPORT Mrs. DeLisa handed out a report on the Senior activities for the month of August. This report is attached to theses minutes. RECREATION DIRECTOR'S REPORT Mr. Lowery stated that his newly instituted E-Newsletter is sent to over 100 residents. This number is growing. If anyone is interested in receiving this newsletter, please contact him. at wappingerrec@aol.com Mr. Lowery would still like to purchase a digital camera to enable him to put photos on his website. This is still another avenue to keep Town Residents informed of recreational activities available to them. The Schlathaus Race is scheduled for October 6th. There is a Family Fun night on October 19th (location to be announced) featuring Steve Max and Ned Gelfars. The Hudson Valley Council Band will perform for our Town Christmas Party once again. Mr. Lowery says the P A System is not working properly and either needs repaired or replaced. The speakers seem to be okay, but the system is not. Mr. Miller suggested to take it to Teleaudio on Rt. 9 for an estimate on repairing it. Mr. Lowery would like suggestions on improving our summer concert series. He suggested we expand the concerts to include some Sundays throughout the summer and would like to discuss this at a future meeting. He would also like input on bus trips for 2002. Mr. Lowery also suggested we look into using students requiring to do Community Service to help. Volunteers may help with small jobs, cleaning up the parks and at some of our recreation events. Mrs. Korz is working on prizes and donations for Halloween. She has booked Parties Unlimited for entertainment and will notify the "3 witches" to judge the costumes. Mr. Chappas reported that Little League will be spending $3000.00 of their own money to redo the infield of the R 1 Field. They will be closing this field until the work is complete. Mr. Ennesser stated the paving for the boat ramp was approved. This will be done in October. Mr. Ennesser invited the Comm. Members to the Trail Ramble at Reese Park to be held on Sept. 23rd. He would like to take the opportunity at that time to recognize the volunteers who have helped out at Reese Park. Mr. Ennesser has some catalog numbers and information on a different type of fence toppings and suggested we check to see if these are better than what we are using. Mrs. Vasquez brought more information on roller hockey. She suggested we see how many residents are interested in this program as it will take dedicated people to help run it. It will take about six people to set up the border bumpers in one hour. The cost of the bumpers/boarders is approximately $7000.00. The goals cost about $350.00 each. There must be a safe place to store this large equipment. A trailer to house the equipment would run about $3600.00. Insurance is available through the Hockey Assoc. if you are a sanctioned team. The cost of the membership per year is $25.00. Mrs. Vasquez commented that East Fishkill is also putting in a skate park next to their roller hockey. They are excited about our possible hockey team. Mrs. Vasquez also checked into the cost of an ice rink (called NiceRink) The cost of this would be approximately $3000.00 for a 60 x 90 rink. Also would need a storage area for this as well. Mr. Friedman submitted a safety report stating the safety concerns at Castle Point. This report is put on file. He suggests that both fields should have fencing. This will also deter the A TV vehicles and four wheelers from tearing up the fields and also enhance the safety of the fields. Mr. Friedman has checked into a splash pool/park and will bring in a video for us to see at the next meeting. The meeting was adjourned at 8:30p.m. with a motion by Joanne Vasquez and seconded by Steve Miller. . -.
