NOTE: This Addendum forms a part of the contract documents. Acknowledge
receipt of this addendum in the appropriate location on the bid.
There are some discrepancies and ambiguities between the plans and the Description
of the Project (page 6 of the project manual) and on the plans and notes.
This Addendum No. 2 is issued to respond to bidder questions and clarify the bid
documents and the project intent.
The device referred to as a "backstop" may be more correctly called a "practice board".
It appears to be in good enough condition that it can be reused. Therefore, the
contractor shall carefully remove the practice board, store it on site, refurbish it as
necessary (replace wood and hardware as needed and repaint), and reinstall it on the
new fence.
The contract includes an allowance amount of 160 CY of "Item 4" that shall be used to
replace any gravel lost when the pavement is removed, and shall be used to establish a
uniformly graded subgrade for the entire tennis court area. Any excess material not
needed to even out low areas and build up the subgrade to the desired grading plane
shall be uniformly distributed over the tennis court area as additional base course
material (see plan detail 8/3). Delivery tickets shall be provided to show that the
material was brought to the site, and the tickets shall be included with the appropriate
request for payment. There will be no refund or credit for unneeded material since the
full 160 CY shall be used.
The bidder's attention is called to the note on the left below plan detail 2/2. Upon site
inspection, it may be determined that a different grading plan is feasible. If possible, the
grading shall be such that a high edge is established on one side and the entire playing
area will be one plane, rather than two planes broken down the middle as shown. (It is
recognized that one plane may be easier to layout and grade.) The "Item 4" allowance
material shall be used as needed to make any subgrade changes from the current
conditions to match the grading scheme established at the site meeting. In any case,
topsoil as needed shall be added around the edges of the tennis court area to blend the
new grade to the existing grass surface on site. Grass seed and mulch shall also be
constructed.

The Description of the Project (page 6 of the project manual) says to construct 3" of
asphalt leveling course, and plan detail 3/3 says 2" of leveling course. The project shall
be constructed as shown on the detail with 2" of binder leveling course.
As shown in plan detail 7/3, the mid rail shall be a brace rail only, and used in the fence
panels adjacent to a corner or a gate. There will be no mid-rail in a typical line section
of fence.
