1968-04-09The Regular Meeting of the Town of Wappinger Zoning Board of Appeals was called to order on Tuesday, April 9, 1968, at 8:00 p.m., at the Town - Hall, Mill Street, Wappingers Falls, New York. Members Present: Thomas I Graham, Sr. Richard E. Jacobson Members Absent: Jason Morse Gordon A. Hirt H. Frederick Koehler Others Present: Susan J. Pike, Secretary Joseph E. Ludewig, Building Inspector and Zoning Administrator PUBLIC HEAR APPBALL#Z4-Pursuant to Section 544 of the Town of wappinger Zoning Ordinance, at the request of Claire J. Boutin, seeking a variance to permit the enlargement of her legally non -conforming trailer located on Dorothy Heights, Town of Wappinger. The Affidavit of Publication had been received from the Wappinger and Southern Dutchess News, swearing to the fact that notice of this hearing was published in their April 4th, 1968, edition. Said affidavit is herewith attached. Miss Boutin was present for her appeal. The proposed addition will consist of a second trailer which will adjoin the existing one. Miss Boutin noted that the trailers will be connedted, and that her builder, Les DeLaney a presently drawing up plans for the construction. Miss Boutin further Noted that this structure will be placed permanently on a foundation and will not have a cellar. Mrs. William Kalinowski, a resident of Dorothy Heights, was present and spoke in favor of granting the variance. She noted that Miss Boutin 'keeps her property in good appearance and she felt that this addition would increase the value of the property. ZONING BOARD OF APPEALS MINUTES -2- April 9, 1968 Miss Boutin explained that she supports her mother, who in presently living in the existing 8' x 29' trailer. They find this trailer is too small for the two of them to live in comfortably. Miss Boutin further explained that in order to be able to keep her mother living with her, she has to enlarge the dwelling. No one else was present to speak in favor of or against the appeal. The Chair declared the hearing closed at 8s16 p.m. The Board went into an executive session at this time, and the meetintq was reconvened at 803 p.m. A motion was made by Mr. Koehler, seconded by Mr. Hirt, to grant the variance requested in Appeal 074, on the grounds that a hardship does exist, and contingent upon approval of the building plans by the Building Inspector Vftw prior to the issuance of a building permit, and contingent upon the approval of the construction by the Building Inspector, prior to the issuance of a Certificate of Occupancy. Motion Unanimously Carried The members had each received a copy of the minutes of the regular meeting of March 12, 1968. A motion was made by Mr. Hirt, seconded by Mr. Koehler, to approve the minutes of the March 12, 1968, regular meeting, as written. Motion Unanimously Carried Mr. Jacobson explained that be had received a telephone call from Councilman James Mills last evening. Mr. Mills had informed him that the **AO'Town Board had received the resignation of Jason Morse as a member of the Zoning Board of Appeals, and Mr. Mills had asked Mr. Jacobson whether the ZONING BOARD OF APPEALS MINUTES -3- April 9, 1968 Board had a recommendation to make in reference to a new member. Mr. Ift. Jacobson suggested to Mr. Mills that they wait until the Zoning Board had a chance to most and discuss the matter before any recommendations are made. A motion was made by Mr. Koehler, seconded by Mr. Hirt, to adjourn the meeting.
