1965-10-12The regular meeting of the Town of Wappinger Zoning Board of Appeals was called to order October 12, 1965, at 8:00 P.M., at the Town Hall, Mill Street, Wappingers Falls, New York. Members Present: David Koffsky Richard Jacobson Members Absent: Thomas Graham Others Present: Robert L'Archevesque Frederick Koehler Joseph E. Ludewig, Zoning Administrator Susan J. Pike, Secretary The minutes of the September 21, 1965 meeting were read. A motion was made by Robert L'Archevesque, seconded by Richard Jacobson, to approve the minutes as read. Mr. Koehler Abstained. Motion Unanimously Carried Mr. Koffsky inserted a welcome to the new Board member, Mr. Frederick Koehler, and congratulated Mr. Jacobson on the new addition to his family. Mr. L'Archevesque asked Mr. Ludewig if he had been out to inspect the site of Einar Chrystie (variance was denied at the last meeting). Mr. Ludewig stated that it was not necessary as Mr. Chrystie submitted a new plan. Public Hearing # 1 - Appeal # 38 - at the request of Charles E. Claydon seeking an 8 -ft. variance of the sideyard regulations to permit him to construct a residence addition. Mr. Claydon was present for his appeal and came before the Board. He explained that there is a hardship involved because they need the extra bedroom, and because of the characteristics of his property, it cannot be placed anywhere else on the property. Public Hearing # 2 - Appeal # 39 - at the request of Alexander and Jane De Robertis seeking a 6 -ft. variance of the sideyard regulations to permit them to construct a garage addition to their residence. Mr. De Robertis was present for his appeal. He explained that there is hardship involved because on the opposite sideyard there is a steep slope which would not permit him to build, and where the garage is planned, there is a large oak tree. With reference to Appeal # 38 - A motion was made by Robert L'Archevesque, seconded by Frederick Koehler, that the Zoning Board of Appeals -2- October 12, 1965 requested 8 -ft. variance be granted to Charles E. Claydon on the grounds that a hardship would be imposed on Mr. Claydon if this request were denied. Motion Unanimously Carried With reference to Appeal # 39 - A motion was made by Frederick Koehler, seconded by Richard Jacobson, that the requested 6 -ft. variance be granted to Alexander & Jane De Robertis on the grounds that a hardship would be imposed if it were not granted.
