2007-0742007-74 Resolution to Allow the Issuance of Multiple Year Dog Licenses At a regular meeting of the Town Board of the Town of Wappinger, Dutchess County, New York, held at Town Hall, 20 Middlebush Road, Wappingers Falls, New York, on March 26t", 2007. The meeting was called to order by Joseph Ruggiero, Supervisor, and upon roll being called, the following were present: PRESENT: Supervisor Councilmembers ABSENT: Joseph Ruggiero William H. Beale Maureen McCarthy Vincent F. Bettina Joseph P. Paoloni The following Resolution was introduced by Councilwoman McCarthy and seconded by Councilman Beale. WHEREAS, the State of New York has amended Section 110 of the Agriculture and Markets Law, effective January 15th, 2006, to allow the issuance of multiple year dog licenses for up to three (3) years; and WHEREAS, the authority to issue multiple year licenses is at the option of the issuing municipality; and WHEREAS, it will be in the best interests of the residents of the Town of Wappinger to be able to purchase dog licenses for multiple years, up to three (3) years. NOW, THEREFORE, in consideration of the foregoing, it is hereby RESOLVED, that as of March 26th, 2007, the Town of Wappinger is hereby authorized to issue multiple year dog licenses for up to three (3) years on such terms and conditions as are set forth in Section 110 of the Agriculture and Markets Law of the State of New York, effective January 15th, 2006. NYCRR Part 78 - Section 78.3 provides as follows: Section 78.3 Notification of commissioner - local license fee (a) Any city, town or licensing village may, by local law or ordinance, set local license fees as provided for by Article 7 of the Agriculture and Markets Law. Upon the filing of a written request by a municipality, the Department shalt print the amount of said local license fee on the license renewal forms mailed to the dog owners in that municipality. The local license fee shall be printed on the license renewal forms within sixty days of the receipt of said request, or on the effective day of the local law or ordinance, whichever is longer. If the department does not receive a written request from a municipality, the license renewal forms sent to dog owners in that municipality will not bear a local license fee and it shall be the responsibility of the municipality to notify dog owners of local fees. 2. Attach copy of law or ordinance initializing the local foe. 3. This form must also be completed and submitted to this Department anytime there is a change in the status of the local fee in your municipality, along with a copy of the local law or ordinance.
