Resolution Authorizing the Submission of a Grant Application to the Department of State
for the Shared Municipal Services Incentive Grant Program for 2007-2008
At a regular meeting of the Town Board of the Town of Wappinger, Dutchess County,
New York, held at Town Hall, 20 Middlebush Road, Wappingers Falls, New York, on December
10th, 2007.
The meeting was called to order by Joseph Ruggiero, Supervisor, and upon roll being
called, the following were present:
PRESENT: Supervisor - Joseph Ruggiero
Councilmembers - William H. Beale
Vincent F. Bettina
Joseph P. Paoloni
Maureen McCarthy
ABSENT:
The following Resolution was introduced by Councilman Bettina and seconded by
Councilman Paoloni.
WHEREAS, the New York State Department of State is currently soliciting applications
for grant monies to cover the costs associated with shared service agreements, known as the
Shared Municipal Services Incentive Grant Program (SMSI), and
WHEREAS, the Town of Fishkill and the Town of Wappinger wish to enter into a
cooperative agreement for the shared purchase and use of highway equipment, and
WHEREAS, the Town of Fishkill and the Town of Wappinger wish to apply for the
SMSI Grant for the purpose of assisting the towns to undertake the aforesaid cooperative
agreement.
NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED AS FOLLOWS:
1) The Town Board of the Town of Wappinger authorizes the Supervisor to sign a grant
application for the "Cooperative Agreement between the Towns of Fishkill and
Wappinger for the shared purchase and use of highway equipment" to the Shared
Municipal Services Grant program for the 2007-2008 Program Year. This project will
consist of the purchase of one Ash Paver, one trailer for paver, two International 10
wheeled dump trucks, two paver attachments for dump - the international dump truck, to
be shared by the Towns of Fishkill and Wappinger upon terms and conditions in a
proposed cooperative agreement.
2) The total cost for the purchase of the equipment will not exceed $431,000.
3) The maximum amount of money being applied for through the SMSI Grant Program is
$387,900.
4) The Towns of Fishkill and Wappinger will each be responsible for a 10 percent local
match of $21,550.
5) The Town of Fishkill is a co -applicant of the grant application.
The foregoing was put to a vote which resulted as follows:

Supervisor Pagones offered the following resolution, which
was seconded by Councilman , who moved its
adoption:
WHEREAS, the New York Department of State is currently

WHEREAS, the Town of Fishkill and the Town of Wappinger
wish to enter into a cooperative agreement for the shared

WHEREAS, the Town of Fishkill and the 'Town of Wappinger
wish to apply for the SMSI Grant for the purpose assisting the
Towns 'to undertake the aforesaid cooperative agreement.

the SMST Grant Program is $ 387,900.
5. The Towns of Fishkill and Wappinger will be
responsible for a 10% local match of $ 21,550 each.
