I understand that the proposed project is one component in a larger effort to rebuild and restore the New Hamburg segment of the Hudson River Greenway Trail System. The other efforts included the formation of the Dutchess County water Quality Strategy Committee, development of the Natural Resource Management Plan for the Wappinger Creek Watershed, Intermunicipal cooperation on watershed issues, project funding for reduction of stream bank erosion through construction of a stormwater treatment facility, stabilize gullies to reduce erosion, and reconstruction of the trailway. The permanent bridges will make the trail system more accessible and safer for those traveling along the Greenway system.
