2005-040RESOLUTION NO. 2005-040 RESOLUTION AUTHORIZING APPROVAL FOR VACATION FOR JOHN YOUNGMAN At the regular meeting of the Town Board of the Town of Wappinger, Dutchess County, New York, held at Town Hall, 20 Middlebush Road, Wappingers Falls, New York, on March 28, 2005 at 7:30 P.M. The meeting was called to order by Joseph Ruggiero, Supervisor, and upon roll being called, the following were present: PRESENT: Supervisor- Joseph Ruggiero Councilmembers- Robert L. Valdati Vincent F. Bettina Joseph P. Paoloni Maureen McCarthy ABSENT: The following Resolution was introduced by Mr. Valdati and seconded by Ms. McCarthy WHEREAS, Ralph Holt, Chairman of the Recreation Committee in reference to his letter dated March 17, 2005, a copy of which is attached hereto, has recommended that the Town of Wappinger Town Board grant John Fred Youngman to take twenty three days of consecutive vacation time, and WHEREAS, in accordance with the Town of Wappinger employee manual that mandates that all employees wanting to take three or more weeks of vacation time must be approved by the Town Board and recommended by their department head. NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED, as follows: In accordance with the letter dated March 17, 2005 by Ralph Holt, Recreation Chairman, the Town Board grants John Fred Youngman twenty days of paid and three days non - paid vacation starting April 11, 2005 through May 11, 2005. HOLT, CHAIRMAN RE: VACATION TIME FOR JOHN FRED YOUNGMAN SUPERVISOR JOSEPH RUGGIERO TOWN COUNCIL VINCENT BETTINA MAUREEN McCARTHY JOSEPH P. PAOLONI ROBERT L. VALDATI Mr. Youngman has asked that he be allowed to take a months vacation starting April 11 'h through May 11 ''. He will have enough vacation time and personal time to cover 20 of those days and will be taking 3 days without pay. We would like to request that this be approved. mbr ` G. Vacations 1. The following vacation plan is for employees hired after 1990. Vacation is earned on anniversary date. 1 week after 6 months of service 2 weeks after 1 year of service 3 weeks after 5 years of service 4 weeks after 10 years of service 5 weeks after 15 years of service 2. Unused Vacation: Employees may carry over up to a maximum of 15 unused vacation days to the following years. 3. Approval. Vacation will be scheduled so as not to interfere with the operation of the department to which the employee is assigned. Requests for vacation are to be submitted to the Department Head for approval. When a conflict of dates prohibits proper staffing for any office, vacations will be assigned on the basis of seniority. Any request for more than 3 consecutive vacation weeks, must be approved by the Town Board with a recommendation from the Department Head. 4. An employee who has resigned or who has otherwise separated from employment shall be entitled to vacation pay prorated on the basis of the number of months worked in the calendar year in which separation becomes effective, plus vacation pay for any vacation due but not taken in the current year. The Town shall pay the employee leaving the Town's employ for vacation time accrued. 5. Vacation pay for permanent part-time employees shall be calculated by averaging the number of hours worked per week during the prior accrual period. 6. Vacation, pay for full-time employees will consist of the employee's regular rate of pay for the vacation period. 7. Employees must submit requests for vacation leave to their Department Head 2 weeks prior to requested time off. 8. Upon the death of an employee, pay for any accrued and unused vacation will be paid in a lump sum to the employee's estate. H. Sick Leave 1, Sick Leave is defined as an absence from duty due to illness or injury. 2. All permanent employees shall be granted sick leave with pay according to the following schedule: Employees commence year of service with an entitlement of 12 days per year earned at the rate of one day per month. All sick time taken in excess of 12 days in one year of service will be without compensation, unless such additional sick time has been accumulated from prior years. Employees may accumulate sick time credit up to a maximum of 166 days. 3. Any employee on sick leave for more than 3 days, must get a doctors statement verifying medical condition. a
